I'm glad to see US territories on this list. People often forget that they are part of our country too.

Although I'm sorry they are on here for this reason :(.

Old enough to know that "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." The Princess calls me a pessimist. I prefer to be labeled a realist. :p
LOL!!!
You must know my hubs, Those are literally the same words he uses. He is often all doom and gloom and I am an eternal optimist, or as he says, naive ;)
He will stress himself out over what the weather will be like next winter, (he plows), but I think we should get thru this winter first.

It sounds like you guys are a good balance.

Good morning all. The latest in Massachusetts is 328 cases confirmed. I didn't look at the cases in my county today, but since we are heavily rural, there are fewer cases here currently. I woke up to the Mayor of Los Angeles on the news telling he had ordered a "stay at home" policy in LA. Not a bad idea. Glad to hear you have come over to the jolly side @sourland. Keep taking those walks and for those of you who can get out and at the very least, sit outside and soak in some fresh air and sunshine. Stay healthy .

Welp, I was exposed and so was my hubby. His coworker tested positive. Now we are BOTH quarantined at home, just waiting for the symptoms to start. Thankfully, there are tests available. I'll be fine, but my hubby is older than I am and has lousy lungs.

We are in limbo in so many ways. We are between houses - having sold ours but not yet bought another and living with my mom. I am a teacher who was relocating a couple hundred miles north of here and just waiting for my contract to end in June. But now school is canceled for now and hiring is frozen. I had interviewed and was given a job offer, but I was supposed to sign the contract this week. Now I'm sharing a small house with my hubby, my mom, 2 adult sons, my older son's gf, a combined 7 dogs, 5 cats, 1 guinea pig, and 8 chickens. It's a zoo - literally. I am worried for my mom and hubby.

But at least I'm getting paid. I feel so badly for people who find themselves without work and no pay all of a sudden.

I wish I knew that everything is going to be ok....
You are now officially on my prayer list! Hang in there. One way or another, it WILL be okay.
:hugs (insert social distancing here!) :hugs (and one more time!) :hugs

You know what? Your guess is as good as mine. I can't tell, I clicked on one of the links because I thought it was wanting volunteers for a state emergency, Florida does that for hurricanes & relief efforts. I hate opportunistic slime balls that scam & try to scam. We shouldn't have to worry about scams! I'm hoping it's legit, because it probably went out to all Florida registered certified & licensed healthcare workers.

Definitely suspect! I can't imagine that ANY official correspondence in a crisis would use a funky font. It's hard to take a comic font seriously.

On a newscast last night Anthony Fauci said there is a possibility of efficacy, but that it has not been proven. I tend to believe him over others.
Completely agree. This is the time to get information from reputable people, ie: the experts. Too much wrong information is coming out from people who have no business talking about such things as if they know or understand them.
Dr Fauci and several other knowledgeable Doctors are going above and beyond trying to bring correct info to the people.

......... I'll put on some good old 70's pop and dance my way around the house. Really need a break from all this stress. I do need to go get chicken feed, and may pop into the grocery store to see how things look there. I really don't need much, but someone did mention chocolate:barnieand I don't have any. I hope you all are well this morning and staying safe.
I was the one crying about having not stocked up on chocolate. I'm still crying about that, but I do have cocoa powder so at least I can make brownies or other chocolate treats. Not the same, but well, you know.....desperate times call for desperate measures. :D

......
In that vein, let’s say the world does end: I, and you my fellow chicken keepers, want to keep our flocks, but what if we could no longer get commercial chicken food. How could we feed them? I’m in the bush, not a farm, so no access to grain but I do have plenty of meat, potatoes, apples and mountain ash berries. Thoughts?

There are many pages in this thread this has been talked about a little bit, however there are much better threads elsewhere on the forum where this has been discussed in deeper details. I'd suggest doing a search. I did and found a wealth of information.
