It's not the government's fault citizens aren't responsible for themselves. People just assume everything will be all great and when something happens they dont know how to respond so they freak out. And a certain political affiliation wants nothing more than to have the average american citizen having to count on them instead of being responsible for themselves. Nanny state.
Also it's not all that easy to poop out 10 billion maskes and vents no matter how much you want them to.

I have to say, I am reading some stories from the front line hospitals about the doctors and nurses who are fighting this battle alongside the victims and tears are rolling down my cheeks. I read this morning that some are resorting to wearing garbage bags to protect themselves because there is such a shortage of PPEs.

It was on the news this morning about the hospital workers who were wearing the trash bags, and that they were wearing PPE's under the trash bags. The trash bags were used as symbols for don't trash the hospital workers, nurses, doctors and others to show they need the vital equipment including the PPE.

I don’t remember if it was in 2018 or early 2019 but Homeland Security came out with a long document urging its citizens to be prepared for 2 weeks at the least and up to 6 months of storing food and water and necessities in the case they wouldn’t be able to go to the store due to a catastrophe. But only a small amount listened and stocked up way before this virus was even heard of. That’s why people went crazy with over stocking, had they stocked ages ago they wouldn’t be in this situation. (At least the ones with extra money to have stocked back then, I know not everyone has the money to stock up for months).

It's a difficult choice isn't it? Nanny state, or corporate dictatorship. I'm told that in some countries they have a democracy and you can vote for any candidate. I wouldn't know, I've never lived in one.
A rather clever man had an idea. He suggests that given the machinery of state is already in place, and despite the bragging politicians of all parties, the state does actually run rather well on it's own, we could do away with politicians altogether.

Robert Kraft and the Patriot organization in coordination with our Governor and many other supporting "players" sent one of the Patriot's planes to China to pick up 1.2 million pieces of PPE. The plane arrived in Boston yesterday and only briefly mentioned on NBC news. So I would like to avoid being political and just point out Mr. Kraft is a billionaire who does good things with his wealth.

I saw a segment on this on cable news last night. Not just a blurb, a fairly long segment.
It was nice to see.

I've also been seeing segments on what celebrity chefs, sports owners/players, and/or other people with more money than most of us BYC people combined are doing to help during the pandemic. And of course the videos of the cheering and the honoring of those who are bravely putting their lives at risk to help those who are sick is always moving.

I think that study was geared to more of a natural disaster where people could be without power for quite sometime. In September 2017 we had hurricane Irma. We were without power for a week. Luckily my sister had not lost power and we borrowed her generator. The generator wasn't large enough to run everything so we had to time share it. I put blankets in the freezer to help keep stuff frozen when we had to move the power to run the well or other things. We survived. This is how I gave the chickens water. Luckily the coops are lower so I relied on gravity. All of the coops have auto waterers. It worked. When the well was on it would back fill this trashcan with water. It actually lasted quite awhile before we had to add water.
