I’m a new chicken mom and they are gonna suck the life out me. All because the ONLY reason I’ve left my home in past 3 weeks of our “stay home, be safe” order is for essentials AKA: Home Depot for chick coop material... I’ve been working remotely from home and homeschool my daughter. But my 4 fluf babies need their “Cluck-it-Shed” complete. Soo if I become ill. It’s the chickens fault.

The CDC has issued a new recommendation that we wear masks in public even if we exhibit no symptoms. The point is that by mask-wearing we protect one another from asymptomatic transmission. Some online have been calling this the "I protect you, you protect me" program.

"CDC continues to study the spread and effects of the novel coronavirus across the United States. We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity—for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing—even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission." (my emphasis)

The President immediately undermined that strategy to flatten the curve despite the fact that in China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia and Singapore where mask wearing is part of the culture they have had remarkably shallow progression of Covid-19.

“I just don't want to be doing that. I don't know. Somehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful Resolute Desk, great Resolute Desk, I think and wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens. I don't see it for myself.”

Who, exactly, is he meeting with these days behind the beautiful and great Resolute Desk now that air travel is basically shut down? And isn't that great beautiful desk inside the privacy of his office anyway? Still, he felt it was important to announce that he has no intention of following the guideline. :sick
I can't understand why they are just now suggesting wearing a mask. Hello, this has been going on for.months! Unless they want a certain percentage of people to die.

I've got to say I came to it reluctantly. But this week I started wearing a mask and using gloves. And so are 90% of the people I encounter in my area of LA.

Tonight I ordered goggles for my husband and I and I had more sent to all my kids and their others. I've begged my son to use them. I'm not sure he will but I can hope.

If it helps to know, TSC (Tractor Supply Company) sells chicken feed and you can order online and most stores are offering curbside pick up.

The last time I got feed I got enough extra to last a while to reduce trips to town. You know....because we just have to have those really expensive eggs. :D

Good morning. I writing this post before catching up, so sorry. The latest data for Massachusetts as of 3 April:
Confirmed Cases Reported =10402
Deaths attributed to Covid-19 = 192
Cases in my county = 825
I caught a glimpse of the cases in the US on a map and clearly this thing is attacking from the coasts and working it's way in. I also caught a small segment of one health "official" remarking that when the shortage of ventilators becomes a reality, then the hard decisions as to who gets them will depend on the patients survivability chances. So my advice to the more senior members here and those with compromised immune systems, isolate yourself and stay healthy. I try to stay focused on my normal daily activities of taking care of the chickens and working on getting the garden planted. My plans for this Spring included adding a grow out pen / meat bird pen. I have just about completed my shopping list, which will cost at least an extra $150 due to not getting my usual discount and having to pay for delivery. Still, I'm waiting a few more days to make sure I didn't contract the virus on my last outing 4 days ago. I want to make sure I'll be around to build it. For those of you in the mid west or any place this virus is mostly just a news broadcast to you, this virus is coming to an area near you, so please take it seriously. OK, now I'll catch up on the posts.

Whoops

For clarification, I wasn’t meaning or suggesting a thinning of the herd type thing or even talking about the virus. I was strictly meaning the idiots taking animal meds and all these supposed “cures” :p
As long as you've been around have you ever seen anyone banned for something as inoffensive as that? No. I've seen far more drama and offensive stuff tgan that and all the people involved are still here.

They didn’t actually tell her to go home and let the baby die right?? I know hospitals are swamped with this virus, but new life is far more important since they are the future!!
Not exact quotes , but They sent her home ...
That's a lawsuit. Hospitals must take in mothers in labor. Federal law
Agree, I don't know how they got away with it. Her parents were peeved to say the least.

I agree! sourland is a treasure!

Can I have that in writing, and are you willing to be a reference

Wait really!? Never heard of that but that’s good to know! Thanks. I still don’t think I’d just randomly take animal dewormer or fish meds though 😂

Commonly used as a human vermicide - for liver flukes I think.

This is so terrible!

I never crossed paths with Woodmort. Did any of you?

He's an old guy - maybe my age. He was very active at one time, but has been less active recently.

He was on site on 3/27 in apparent good health - 81 years old. :fl

Cap, you're usually a voice of reason, I'm surprised by this comment.
