Keeping DH home has been hard! He's feeling the cabin fever, and inventing reasons to go out. :( It's making me nuts too!
We are wearing face masks and washing up a lot, and going out only for essentials.
Survival chances will improve when hospitals aren't overwhelmed, and there will maybe be some better treatment information.

I actually forgot that we are supposed to shelter-in-place this morning. A friend's wife passed (stroke, not covid) and I asked when the service would be. Didn't remember we can't go! I'm comfortable staying here, plenty to do on the farm. Husband is antsy, wanting to go to town, making up stuff to go to town for. I know with him it's mental. We really are doing the same things as we did before. It's like a kid when told he can't do something. He never wanted to do it until you told him he couldn't!!! MEN!!??

Hey!:rant

Thank you!

I LOVE my Juki. Complete workhorse and all metal inside. No plastic gears inside and she sews like a dream. (I have the TL 2010Q) Jukis are the garment industry standard and I've seen the industrial types ones...stinkin' awesome.
I started off with the little ones that struggled with two basic layers of cotton. Those elicit much cursing and pirate language from me... even before the birdnesting.

For the noses I am using 6 inches of craft pipe cleaners. I don't make the little pocket ahead of time...just stick it between the layers and divert right around it when top stitching the edges. Saves time on the extra step.

Next trip out for my medical stuff I will see if Wal-Mart has any thanks.
Materials for making masks are getting hard to come by for sure.
Next option is bread bag ties.

I want to make mine removable so it can be taken out for laundering.

Same thing here. Like for real! Sits and watches car shows weekend after weekend for YEARS but the minute he is told to he doesn't WANT to. 🤨

The round face ones like this-
https://www.masksoflove.org/citizen-mask-pattern.html

Though I've made several of the pleated ones, which are easier for beginners to sew, they don't fit as snugly and can be more irritating to someone not used to wearing a mask.

I made a few changes to the pattern above too....I use craft type of pipe cleaners (chenille sticks) cut to 6" for the bridge of the nose and I make fabric straps because elastic behind the ears doesn't feel too good for any length of time.

Fabric ties also allow for a better fit for more of a variety of face shapes like a long face, or a "fluffy" face. I have quilt batting and other materials for the inner pocket and the mask is all cotton and easy wash/dry.

ETA: I've made several of the rounded ones from different sites and each pattern is just a hair different in the height, or the curve, or the steps involved, and this one is the most comfortable we've found so far. I'm assuming it will be more comfortable for the recipients as well.
That is the pattern I used as well. I just made a front and back the same, stitched them together and turned them inside out, sewed elastic on the sides and done. I didn't have any instructions but I got it done. I made two for husband (custom fit!) and 3 for me. Very easy and fast to make, but I'm now out of elastic.

The word may in here means it's not 100% proven. I would like for someone to say it's proven not it may or maybe.

I wear a mask when I'm out in public, but I'm not going insane over this. I wouldn't spend my last days worrying over it. I do what they say to do and that to me is following what I should... Isolate, wash your hands, and wear a mask when in public.
Another study happening here now.

Bias tape to tie behind the head.....that is where I am now too.

I used a 1.5" starting strip and steamed my fingers pretty good ironing it. :hmm
I need to locate my chop sticks to keep my fingers farther away.

I just realized how this potentially sounded and I should clarify I DO wear clothes 😂🙈

@Kiki is gonna make everyone think I don’t smh. 😂🤦‍♀️

I just meant I sometimes wear a coat over the shirt not instead of one 😂😂😂

OMG :th

Please let the record state that I AM a full time clothes wearer. 😂
