You have Malinois!? I love Malinois!!!A bit late to the party here.
My life hasn't really changed with the lockdowns. I work for Lowe's so I'm still working.
I'm a home body, so when I'm not working, I'm home. I'm not super social, so the lockdown hasn't bothered me.
I'm amazed at the number of people that have not been staying home though.
No less than half of my customers in the past week or so have told me they are shopping because they're bored, or just walking around in the store because they're tired of sitting at home.
At home, I'm working on finishing up my coop so I can move the girls (and a couple boys) outside.
As well as gearing up to work on some fencing for more play areas for my dogs (4 Belgian Malinois).
I'll be setting up some agility stuff, obstacles, and PSA scenario stuff, and maybe turn one of my sheds into a barn hunt training area, although I'm training my female to hunt rodents to kill them, so I might discontinue the sport with them.
Speaking of rodents, I found two Marmot nests in one of my sheds yesterday. A friend was over to help fix the roof on one of my buildings, and his dog was keen on something in one of the sheds. I figured it was a Marmot, because I have a large colony on my property that I'm working on evicting. I started pulling things out of the shed, and two Marmots refused to leave. They kept evading the dog, hiding just out of her reach. When I heard the babies, I knew why.
I found a total of 10 babies. 8 of them looked to be 4-6 days old, 2 looked brand new, maybe a day, if that. I could not bring myself to cull them, so I ended up getting in contact with a wildlife rehabilitator who took all 10 babies to raise up to be released where there are no people.
I did and instantly regretted it.Google it, but have a barf bag ready just in case!
They chew through wood walls and poop everywhere. They have holes all over, leading to their burrows, and also eat trees and plants. They are known to carry fleas and ticks as well. I found a flea on one of the babies, likely from the momma. What kind of damage can marmots do if you left them? I'm familiar with rats and groundhogs, but not marmots. I know they're a lot bigger than groundhogs.
I think I’ve seen those before and they’re so creepy!!! Also naked mole ratsGoogle "star-nosed mole"... they look very weird. I found their noses to be more disturbing than the cucumbers.
I've been a die-hard GSD fan my whole life....until I got my first Malinois by accident. LOLYou have Malinois!? I love Malinois!!!
But 4 must be quite a bit of work!![]()
And aww they’re adorable!!!

I've dealt with tick borne illnesses and worms from fleas in dogs before, it's no fun.
Babies are hard to dispatch... I found a bucket full of baby racoons in a shed. Didn't have the heart and wasn't going to try to get by the mom anyway.... Ended up some on the road and the rest stayed away because of the dog. They chew through wood walls and poop everywhere.
