I told y'all I would let you know what the phone doctors thing was going to cost......$90.
Hubs told them to cram it. They told him it was the same visit he would have gotten in the office. 🤨 I doubt that. First they cannot check weight, blood pressure, or temp over the phone. Considering his meds are for blood pressure it is THE only reason he would have been going in anyway.
This is the same doctors office that FAILED to tell him he was a raging diabetic for over 4 years. Yes bloodwork was showing his fasting glucose at over 500 for more than 4 years and they said NOTHING.

Now to see if they hold his prescriptions hostage.
Think maybe he needs to change doctors especially if that's how y'all feel about them. I would never have a Dr that I have any type of bad feelings about.

And let me tell you... I have had to search for doctors and even move for doctors that are worth my time. I moved 500 miles just to find the correct doctor. I don't mess around with anything. I know within 10 minutes if a Dr is worth my time.

I actually had a telephone call with my new endocrinologist two weeks ago. I like his accent 😂 he's Italian.

We definitely need to switch.
The way hubs found out about his diabetes was trying to save $ he had his blood drawn at the lab instead of the doctors office. The lab called him and told him he needed to go to the ER.

I'm so sorry to hear about your last baby. We lost one when I was a teenager. The filly was so large the mare couldn't pass her. The filly died before the vet got there. We had to transport the mare to the hospital, they had to surgically remove the baby. The poor mare had a stroke during surgery, she was so torn up inside she would never carry another foal. She was such a good mom, it was so sad. The next foaling season she bagged up and would start waxing when the other mares were due. She produced milk, adopted more than one baby every year. She was an amazing mare, heart of gold!
Has your mare begun to get mushy in the hindquarters yet? I always slept in the barn waiting for babies, this was of course back before the fancy breeding barns with cameras in the stalls! The filly we lost I have always felt guilty about. I had been sick so my parents didn't want me sleeping in the barn. I know in my head my being there wouldn't have changed the outcome, I think the poor mare wouldn't have suffered as much.
I love Fjords! Always wanted one, but haven't had one...yet! I can't wait to see your new addition! I shall require photos! :D
I show papered horses because that is where the $$$ is to support my herd lol I have owned so many grade horses that are just as nice. In some cases, they are even nicer than the overbred papered horses. Humans tend to screw up breeds trying to perfect them. I am in no way a breed snob! ;)
Yep that’s why we got all registered horses, it took a couple years to find a good stud and mare, a year later someone gave me the other two girls, for free, they’re also papered. Problem is they’ve got founder, it’s really the one drawback of fjords that they’re such easy keepers they CANNOT have a speck of grain, and poor quality hay is best...not dusty of course or mouldy, but stemmy yellow stuff is good. Which makes sense as they’ve been bred for 4000 years to scratch a living on mountains and rocky “pasture”.
These girls had been in a beautiful lush green field for years, they could barely step in the trailer and I thought for sure we’d probably put the older one down. My vet literally threw up his hands in exasperation when he saw them! But 9 months on and they’re both progressing, I rode both a bit in the winter and they’re so well trained, though the older one is desperately afraid of riding crops and belly touching and she’s the sweetest horse you could ask for, I try not to think about the why of that. And the previous owner was a very nice fellow and NOT the trainer so no hate for him.
Long story short, this is a valuable foal for many reasons, and I can’t wait to meet him (fingers crossed for a him!)

Ridiculous... I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

I was told I had diabetes and they gave me a machine to check it. I never did it, I knew they were wrong... I had a heart attack at work because of their lack of knowledge. I had idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension 😑 I had to spend 2 months at Boston Medical away from my kids and family to get me straightened out.

I have the feed war with clients all the time. I am old school, alfalfa & grass. They only get 4 way (cobb) if they are working hard and need the calories. Rice bran if they are hard keepers to keep the sugar intake down. All these new feeds pushing pounds of processed feeds. It makes my head hurt. I'm often asked what I feed my horses, people think I'm lying because my horses have beautiful coats and shimmer in the sun. What can I say, good nutrition and elbow grease goes a long way!
Founder is not a fun net to be caught in. I have a mare now who was foundered as a 2 year old. She ended up in full on laminitis with rotation of her coffin bone. I keep her on the thin side, she is sound 85% of the time. She always has a bad couple of months end of winter/spring. Vet shakes his head every year and says she may not come back this year. She always does.
I personally would like to take a riding crop & spurs to everyone who thinks they are training methods. I have rescued a couple severely abused "trained" horses. Sorry folks abuse & training through pain association is not training! One of these days I will tell you about Gem, my 19 year old Saddlebred I rescued from a damn feed lot. :he
You're hoping for a colt? To hopefully stand one day or? I always wanted fillies. I love mares, even the moody ones.

You do need to switch Dr with that missed diagnosis

But they do still have to pay their bills

Anyone else moving their house around 😂 we have one day left in quarantine (tomorrow). I'm moving the bedroom 🤪 My husband will be happy to go back to work on Thursday. Then he won't have to move furniture because I can't lift anything 😂

Your quarantine is being lifted????? 😳

I get it that they have bills to pay too. Everyone does. Thing is hubs just needs a refill on meds he has been on for years now. To us it makes sense to give him the refill and have him come in for the office visit when things aren't so nutty.

Yes they missed a major diagnosis.
They also never bothered to check my blood even with me going in many times with physical complaints that all pointed at diabetes. I found mine by checking my blood myself.

Yes we need a different doctor.
