It is supposed to be, however so many people complained that they had to have a vet give them. I give all my own shots as well, but I'm fine paying the vet to give them for me. Proof it was done. I'd rather pay a little extra for the show horses vaccines to keep all exhibitors horses safe.
After the fiasco of hundreds of horses dying across multiple breeds many show grounds are back to requiring proof from a vet. Until they all jump on that bandwagon, I won't be showing.
Oh wow that’s insane!!! They choose to show! They could just not show if they want to give all their own shots hah

So sad about the horses dying. :( I hope they go back to requiring vaccines so you can show again!!!

As a teen I had a horse named Dan he was the coolest. He would walk up to my room window and stick his head in while I was doing homework or watching tv - my window was at the foot of my bed and we would watch together while I scratched his head and fed him Oreo cookies and potatoe peelings.... yes I know weird! He was like a person! I would grab a hose and squirt him and he would run behind a shed and go from side to side like hide and seek so as not to be sprayed and hide behind trees.....I remember once he decided to be funny and trot off with just the saddle pad on and when the pad slipped off he immediately stopped and looked and didn’t see me so he came back and sniffed and was very upset until I said his name and he knew I Was ok- he never did it again.....he was totally cool- chestnut with flaxen mane and tail and matching socks in front and stockings in back he was beautiful! Had great movement ! I tend to prefer no chrome but he was pretty🤗 we would ride the trails at night just me and him-he never seemed to care he was alone. The 2 I have now don’t like to leave the “herd”. So no solo rides😞 they are a lot of work but great for the soul!

I had a Mustang! Fastest, sleekest car I ever owned. One of Fords better products!
From the day I started driving, I joked about wanting a sleek, black Mercedes in my garage. I eventually got to live my dream. For years, I had a beautiful, black, feral kitty living in my garage. Guess what we named her?

Find a barn that offers a working student program. Many barns will allow you to pay for a lesson a week and work additional lessons off. It is a great learning experience, not to mention all the hands on time.
Thank you!!! I’ll have to look into that and see if there’s anything like that here. I did help a lot at the last barn since I was older haha stuff like bathing, grooming, tacking them myself and even eventually turned some of them in sometimes and helped with the pasture a couple times. Definitely still have tons to learn though and I’m still somewhat scared of them for some reason. :hide

I had a mustang too. I wrecked it 🙈 5.0 and all 😁
If it was a fox body a lot of people did. I had a '84 GT 5.0 t-top 5 speed bored .60 over. Boy that thing was squirrely. Going 55 drop it in third stomp on it and it couldn't decide which guard rails to point at 😆 A lot of fun. I was lucky the transmission went. First lost second gear still burn rubber shifting first through third. When I took the tranny out the cross member holding it was almost cracked in two 😯. Couldn't afford to replace the tranny at the time, traded it for a jacked up '84 F-250 one of the nicest trucks I've ever had. I could probably afford gas for it now 😆
