I didn't complete an order from a hatchery yesterday because shipping on 9 pullets was $60! Yeah I don't need them that bad! šŸ™„
OMG that’s insane!!! :th

Seems that is exactly what we are building this weekend! I may need a whole Costco size bottle of rum to get through this build! I'm married to the king of over complicate, over think & over build EVERYTHING. šŸ˜–
That’s my dad LOL but then towards the end he rushes and half asses it!
Lol. "Lord Overdo," eh? Don't knock it too much. In fact, take pics. When the build is complete you can post it in the section where folks show off their awesome coops. And buy more chickens! 🤣🤣🤣
My dad always says we are building a chicken mcmansion lol

@KDOGG331

I have an empty 12x12 stall you're welcome too! 🤣🤣
Sounds perfect!!! Can I ride the horses too!? :D

Mac n cheese and ramen... LOL
:lau nahhh!! I haven’t eaten either of those in forever actually! Though I do love Mac and cheese. Ramen not so much. My only meal today (at around 5, 5:30pm mind you) was grilled cheese that I had to microwave when it got cold, a couple bites of black beans (was gonna eat it for protein but was too salty) and a couple bites of peanut butter when the beans were making me sick. Oh and I put protein powder in my tea which btw was pumpkin spice caffeinated with milk and sugar. Oh and I did actually also sautĆ© some yellow bell pepper, onion, and garlic so yay veggies šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø šŸ™ˆ

Thank you! :)
Zephan was actually #2 of the Mals I got. I first had Alexa, who was also GSD/Mal.
I had lost my male GSD to cancer beginning of 2013, and was looking for another GSD male at the GSD rescue I got him from. They didn't have any available, but they had a "blonde GSD" female that they said was mellow (yeah right). When I went to meet her, I said, "uh, she's got Malinois in her.." they said "are you sure??" Um, yeah. LOL
She was the start to my love for Malinos. I had her for three years, and she had some serious behavior issues, some that could not be fixed (likely due to poor genetics, and I ended up having to put her down.
I got Z when I still had Alexa. I hadn't realized the stress she put on the others (I also had a female GSD/Lab) until after Alexa was gone. It was heartbreaking to realize.

Neci's breeder gives the impression she's a "working breeder", but I later discovered she had been booted from the only FR club in the state, she later started a FR club, which she later got booted from as well.
I was tunnel visioned with the health testing and her portrayal of being active in FR, I didn't realize her BS until later. Live and learn though right?

Mal's are a popular breed now, there are more and more byb's out there.
Rescues are overflowing with Mal's. If you are ever serious, the two rescues I mainly support are Woof Project Rescue (west coast, BC Canada to southern CA) and Malinois Ranch Rescue (TN). MRR can help arrange transport, if you want to adopt from them.
A lot of byb's are watering down the breed, so you'd be surprised at how many are not as high drive as the breed is supposed to be.
A good rescue will fit you with the right temperament. (So will a good breeder).

With Mal's being popular, many get them because they're "cool" and they want a "badass protection dog", but they don't realize the many hours of training that goes into them because of their drive, and they end up ditching them.

The off switch is mostly a training thing. Some dogs are always "on", but many can be taught to chill. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it. LOL

Agility is a lot of fun, and a couple of mine LOVE it! I will never trial though, I cannot run, and I am horrible about remembering patterns LOL (18 years of multi-tasking has ruined my short term memory Haha) I got into agility because the trainer for barn hunt got hurt and was out for a while. I had to do something to keep my heathens busy. LOL

Bitework/protection sports are a lot of fun, but you have to have the right temperament in your dog. It's also super important to have a good trainer and decoy/helper.
Sorry about your first two :( :hugs and about the breeder deception thing. :/ but she sounds like a sweet dog anyway. :love can she do any bitework at all? I’ve heard that even some softer dogs still can cause they work in prey drive and think of it as a giant game??? But maybe that wouldn’t work for FR since I imagine defense is more needed there than the other sports.

And thank you so much!! This is all so helpful!!! I had wondered if the ā€œoff switchā€ was a training thing or not but wasn’t sure as some seemed sure they never turned off LOL same for BCs but I’ve read they can be trained too.

I think most any dog can be trained to have an off switch haha mostly by ignoring the obnoxious behaviors šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

But seriously, when people say that a dog is always on or just crazy or hyper or whatever I always question it because I’m like 1. Is the dog getting enough exercise/mental stimulation? Can’t expect a dog to just chill without that. And 2. If they are, just train them what you want then don’t cave šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

Easier said than done. I caved with my last dog sometimes LOL but I don’t like constantly whining obnoxious cry baby dogs šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

Gator used to grumble then bark when he wasn’t getting enough attention or didn’t get what he wanted lol fam ruined him. Brothers dogs are super well trained cause they don’t let them be obnoxious. Night and day šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

I want to do agility but so scared I’ll forget the pattern or trip and embarrass myself LOL mostly scared of falling. I feel like the dog could do it blindfolded šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

And thanks!! Very interesting! I kinda wanna try it but kinda wanna just admire from afar haha

Kinda stinks the Mals have been watered down in a way but then again I could probably never handle a full super high drive one šŸ˜‚

I have 2.5 as well. I inherited the property after my Dad passed. He was a farrier and had horses, a mini donkey, a couple goats and a pig.
The property became pretty run down over the years, especially the last 5-6 years before he passed away, because of his health.
I have a lot of work to do, but I am contemplating getting a couple mini donkeys in a couple years. My focus right now is training areas for the dogs right now (as well as the chickens of course).

P.S. do you have ferrets? I did several years ago. I miss them. I had private bred, way different than store bought (commercial bred). Private bred are like the Malinois of the ferret world. LOL It was actually the breeder I got most of my ferrets from that I learned a lot about Mal's from. When I got my first Mal mix, she told me, "if you can handle the brown bitey things, you can handle a Mal" LOL
That sounds amazing. :love I’m always envisioning where in the yard I would train šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

And that’s hilarious!!! I don’t have ferrets but I’ve always wanted them lol

Yeah, the shipping is definitely pretty crazy!!!
I think it prob has to do with the cost of replacing them on warranty.
They might even actually loose $ on small orders even with the xtra shipping depending on how many die and they have to send more and pay shipping themselves.
I've always ordered 15-25, never had any dead one's shipping.

I never thought of it like that before but that makes total sense actually!! I’ve only ever ordered small batches under 10 aha last one before the eggs was only 5 šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

Yup, I know, it's not about horses, or the extreme deprivation of not being able to visit the local dog burger joint.
It's probably from some unacceptable alternative site as well.
I was talking with my eldest about the absurdity of people checking the bias of a website by going to another website. Doesn't anybody have the ability to discern without the aid of Google anymore?

They have to go to court to get an order to garnish it. Most courthouses aren't opened right now.
