Did some checking about using poultry, wrapped properly and kept frozen at 0F for some extra time, and even if there is a little bit of freezer burn it's said to be safe.(according to several food safety sites) Even Butterball says their frozen turkeys can be kept frozen for several years, though recommends eating within 7 months.
Any freezer burn can be cut off easily and the remainder of the meat is said to be fine for soups, stews, chili, bbq or meals with some added moisture to compensate.
I had forgotten what all I had in the deep freeze because when I moved I tossed some stuff and kept other stuff. Glad I did this before placing any orders for a different incubator or meat/fry pan special chicks because everything in there was in good shape, with no discernible freezer burn, and I had more chicken than I thought. Which is what happens when you finally move somewhere that safe yummy rotisserie poultry is available for the allergic family.
Hopefully this gives me more time to order another incubator and see how things go.
I also picked up Mr Roo to get a better feel for how's he's filled out now that he's an actual roo and no longer a cockerel. He didn't really appreciate it but was well behaved despite being a very hands off guy. Darn it......if he keeps acting like a good boy I might start to like him.
A little scrawny for a proposed papa bird, and scared of his own shadow, but he has potential.
