We got new animals last night. We traded out the ducks for 2 bunnies. Only “duck” I have is my Muscovy. She didn’t like the others anyways. She’s my little dog duck, she follows me everywhere.

The bunnies are going to be used to fertilize the gardens and be cute.

Both look the same and no names because I’m not sure if they are male or female.

Today we braved going to Trader Joe's. Social distancing to get in, monitored entrance to store, disinfected cart handles, one way wide aisles, people masked and distancing inside - all in all it was a good experience. Wonder if that is going to become the new 'normal'? They had an abundance of meat (we don't need any) and no limits on quantity. We even got hand sanitizer.
The new normal is for you to be scared, to stop you from thinking on your own and using common sense, and letting the media, and g-ment guide you in every little decision and move you ever make.

This is in reference not to you personally, but people in general.

Pretty soon it will be mandated by the gubment to wear Body Bubbles when we get our haircuts at Home Depot or take our wives out for a steak dinner at Walmart. But woe to them when they come to take my chickens or my guns...

To ensure the social distancing measures these should be at least 12 feet wide. We could all bounce around everywhere.

In a state rapidly approaching 10,000 deaths - many if not most in situations where 'social distancing' was difficult if not impossible - I'll take a little scared and a lot of common sense rather than deal in 'government conspiracies' or lack of governmental guidance from the highest levels.

"Scared" and "not using common sense" do not necessarily go hand in hand! I think you'll find (and like you said - "you" is a generalized term) that most people do NOT follow blindly. That's one of the true beauties of living where and when we do.

From what we're seeing, the lack of common sense is coming mostly from people denying or defying the reality of this illness. The current reality IS scary. Our common sense - and yes, some boosting from higher-ups, although sometimes overzealous - is at least making the bulk of us think about what we're doing. If more people had done that sooner, two of my ex's closest coworkers would still be alive, and my mother's best friend would not be trapped in a nursing home, waiting for someone to slip up and share the virus with her.

The "New Normal" is what WE make of it. Going back to the old one simply isn't good enough, anymore.

Rant completed. I'm gonna go wash my hands again ...

Going to get some wood tomorrow and practice building things for fun I think. Not sure what I’ll build yet but I’m thinking maybe some animal cages 😂🤣🙈🤔
There are some pretty slick ideas here on BYC. I'd like to try building one of the feeders that takes a whole (BIG) bag of feed - storage and feeder all in one - or maybe a fancy automatic watering system. And I need to put some bench shelves in my main coop & rework the lighting and doors on the little one.
Hmmm ... now that I really think about it ... wanna come play at MY house for awhile? :D

MAJOR CUTE!!!
Ummm ... pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but if you don't figure out their genders soon, you're gonna have more little lookalike bunnies than you're prepared for ... and it won't matter WHAT you call them ... they'll still eat you out of coop and home! :D:bun:bun:D

My incubator finally arrived. Yay!! :ya
But, I had to go pick it up because shipping to home was not available. I chatted, from a distance, with my manager friend at TSC and caught up on local stuff and farm stuff. Nobody but me wearing a mask, but only one other shopper looked at me like I had the plague. Everyone else just minded their own business. The Check out girl was wearing a mask when I arrived at the store but by the time I was ready to check out she was not.

Because I've haven't been out for a while, I braved going in to Sam's Club to restock in-store items only. Cold stuff, frozen stuff, etc... About 65% of people were wearing masks, but only half of them were using them correctly. The other half were hanging down under chins, or people were pulling them down to talk, then up again...touching their faces and their phones constantly.
A few people were being cautious about spacing but most weren't. However, thankfully, there were not many shoppers there to have to avoid. Someone I know there said it was a complete zoo on Sat but the week days are starting to settle down.

Most items were in like TP and paper towels. Most meats were in and most of the cold stuff and frozen stuff was well stocked. Plenty of rice, beans, flours, and baking goods...
I had checked online last night to see what was showing in-stock for my store and quite a few things were listed as out, but were actually in the store, so yay for me.

Haven't gotten gas since Feb and I still have half a tank. Couldn't help but snicker when kiddo asked if I was going to get gas today while at Sam's.

I think a good practice now are stores wrapping baked goods and other items in the cases. I've always thought it unsanitary to have food items open, with flies and other airborne yuckies landing on everything.
Ours are in glass cases so no flies and germs landing on them. But ours is doing the prepackaged thing now too. Which kinda sucks because they had the best muffins :lau they’ve now switched to some premade kind and/or make you buy 4 now.
