I hope no one took that as police bashing! I have officers in the family, as well. The fault here was not the officers, who handled it well, but the person or persons who reported the "unusual" young man "driving around the neighborhood!"

EDIT to remove duplicate pictures ... even though the message is important enough that saying it twice was just FINE by me!!
I didn’t take it that way at all!!! It’s terrible there’s still so much racism, fear, hatred, etc. in 2020. I would have hoped we would be past this by now. :( I’m sorry that happened!!

My garden seems like it’s taking forever, but I just saw my first cucumber 🥒 My parents can’t wait till we have fresh produce because I told them I’d bring some over.

We have so many tomatoes! The peppers aren’t doing so good.
I have blossoms on the cuke plants, but I don't think there are cukes yet.

Okay - another reality check for my family. My 19 y/o nephew was pulled over, yesterday. He was driving in an affluent neighborhood, minding his own business and heading home, when he was stopped ... for a broken tail-light. As it turns out, the tail-light was not broken at all. What was broken was society as a whole.

Did I mention that my wonderful BIL is black? So is my gorgeous, accomplished, well-educated, full-football-scholarship nephew. As it turns out, there is some "unrest" in our quiet area, these days, and he didn't "fit" the neighborhood. Really? He LIVES there! Luckily, DN was his usual calm, courteous self and the officers chose not to escalate. How in the world, in this so-called "modern" day and age, can I use "Lucky' to describe the encounter ... and yet it's the word that fits best.

DN went straight home afterwards and pretty much got sick. My sister is LIVID ... and terrified for her husband and children. I am all three at once. I am just one person with just one voice, so I have to make mine count. PLEASE make yours count, too. Educate people about this.

I hate to hear things like this, no reason for them to stop your nephew without a valid reason. The police officers who stopped your nephew should be reprimanded for what they done,

Eh, I don’t think the officers should necessarily be reprimanded. They got a complaint and were just doing their jobs and following up on it. Officers can’t just pick and choose which ones they think might be real or not. And they seem to have been polite about it and handled it well rather than doing anything insane or whatever. The complaint itself however was ridiculous and I think the person that made the complaint should be charged with faking a 911 call or wasting their resources or whatever the technical charge is called. And maybe a hate crime too.

I agree. It needs to stop.

I've stopped myself many times from posting this on FB, choosing instead to block the people who send out stupid stuff who require this type of response, but I think it fits on a chicken forum ok....

They were calm, polite and apologized. My guess is that some "concerned citizen" called them out. THAT's the one that needs to be reprimanded ... not the officers!
