Uh oh MROO. I have two cast iron dutch ovens, one big one small. Small one has feet, big one came with a tripod, both have flat lids, and I've already done bread, soups, roast chicken, oatmeal, pancakes, sausages, and yes even pizza in them. I cook outside over a firepit all the time in the summer - we don't even own a "real" grill, all our grilled food goes over a fire on a metal grate.
Probably doesn't hurt that I grew up camping several times a year, participated in a medieval society, and have an eagle scout in my household.

So, um. Well that's done. Now what? XD
Hmmm ... Write a cookbook?
You ROCK! We've done some camping, too! We all grew up in Scouts - I spent 15 years with Boy Scouts and 9 with Girl Scouts - all the way up to the District level. We still camp, but nowadays, my idea of "roughing it" is when the hot tub closes at ten instead of midnight!
So ... okay ... we'll have to work on a different challenge ... thinking ... (Jeopardy tune playing in the background ...)

I never had the chance to do scouting, and girlscouts in my area is NOT like boyscouts unfortunately. I wanted to tromp through the woods and cut trees and tie ropes and eat s'mores. The girlscouts in my area did a lot more sewing (I was sewing dresses on my own by the time I was 11) and scrapbooking and baking and book-keeping for business and weird stuff. There was some co-ed ventures crew my sister did but nobody wanted to be a girlscout where I lived growing up, and I wasn't allowed in boyscouts.... Now that I could join I'm MUCH too old! XD I sure with there was a "boyscouts" for adults.

But my partner got his eagle. And honestly, I learned most of it just through faffing about anyhow and reading my moms wilderness survival books for fun and building faerie houses and stuff.

Honestly I haven't changed that much from being a kid. :p

You can still be a Boy Scout - sign on as a leader. There's a program called "Wood Badge" which is basically Eagle for adults - ALL BSA adults. It's a pretty cool program and you'll make some solid friends out of it. Now that girls are allowed, BSA is hurting for good female leaders who can do all the "real" Scouting activities. You'd be a welcome addition to some lucky, local unit, I'm sure!

EDIT to ADD:
Even if you can't be a leader, look into being a Merit Badge Counselor. It's not nearly as big a time commitment, and with your camp cooking and Scouting Skills experience, you'd be a shoe-in - and you can still do Wood Badge!

I actually think I'm still not allowed. Because I'm out as bi. :p And you can be a gay scout but not a gay leader because boyscouts still thinks gay=pedophile. So maybe if they make a little more progress into the 21st century someday I could do that. :T

It depends on the unit. We had an openly gay Assistant Scoutmaster. As long as the Unit leadership, parents and Scouts are okay with it, BSA never questioned. He was an amazing leader. The boys couldn't have learned survival skills any better or from a more competent teacher than him!

Oh! I guess you're right. I just checked the wiki and they changed it a few years ago right as my partner stopped being in BSA. :O

Well, maybe my partner and I will actually look into it then! That's pretty cool.

Our Girl Scouts sucked too. I think it’s just the organization as a whole. Still a bit sexist. We also went to like this one extremely boring history museum/library thing. And I like history. But this museum barely had anything in it and was awful lol

Later on in high school my friends actually started a Venture Scout crew here which is kinda like co ed Boy Scouts except way cooler lol except we couldn’t get any of the guys to join it 😂🤣😤 so it was just my friends and I doing what we wanted and kinda fun haha

I think now though they allow girls into Boy Scouts??? Which is cool and all but there was already a co ed one 😂🤣 I guess not with the same badges and stuff though but still.

Yeah, venture scouts was a co-ed group, but they did NOT do the same things that boyscouts did. They did cool things but not the same. My sister did like this big cross country bike trip with them one year. And it's only for older kids. :)

It's very exciting to me that they let girls in now. And the info about adult scouts and accepting LGBT+ leaders is VERY hype for me. (I never watched them too closely and the info came out a whopping two months before my partner got his eagle so neither of us knew.) If nothing else it means that little girls like who I used to be can actually have those experiences and it's thrilling. I think of all the little girls out there who dream of things like I did and now they can actually DO those things! It makes me REALLY happy.

Yeah that’s true!! We never really did like any of the big trips or stuff like that or like official but we did go to like Adventure Bound and indoor sky diving and do some other cool stuff haha but yeah def not quite the same!

And yeah I think they only just approved it last year although I think Cub Scouts they were let in the year before but now everybody can and get the Eagle etc.

And yeah it’s awesome!! :love I know the boys were always off doing cool things and we were stuck here lol

Although my friends family would sometimes go with the scouts on hikes and stuff lol cause they were all friends and everything.
