This is a difficult time all the way around.

I'm relatively new to my area so don't know a lot of people really really well yet, but my circle of people have lost spouses or loved ones. And I really wish I could hug them in real life.
And THAT, in my opinion, at least, is the hardest part of this awful mess. It's hard to console each other when what we want and need the most is a shoulder to cry on.

Heck, I'm white. I'm asking for free food, free college and flying cars. Studies show it's frankly cheaper to just take care of people instead of leave them desperate and dying. Not to mention I think every generation should have it better than the last and if I'm not working to make those things accessible to everyone in the future, what am I even doing? I don't want people to have to go through bad things just because I went through them. Quite the opposite. I want my nephew to grow up in a better world where I did. I have a grand-nephew now as of last month. I want every single one of his generation to have more, better things than I did.

And like dang, why do we not have those flying cars yet??? I was promised those as a kid and I want them NOW! XD
The Jetsons lied. Lied I say!

Have you been tested for the antibodies? If you have them, you may actually help place the beginnings of this mess - which may also help get rid of it.
No I haven't. From what I've read the antibodies likely only last 3 months but t cells will remember the virus. Besides I doubt any of the powers that be would admit to the virus being here earlier.

Hahahaha. Thanks for this :) We did get the video phones (so we are in the future!), but the flying cars would be really awesome, too.

Sounds good but define "better". Free healthcare doesn't guarantee better. Find a doctor that works for free. I am a mechanic and I wont fix your flying car for free. Nothing is free. All you do is change who pays for it.

If I'm not driving this car in the next 10 years, why, I'm going to write my governor about it! That'll show 'em....

Not literally dying because you can't afford to take care of your basic physical needs kind of better would be a GREAT start! :)

And yes, I know how taxes work. My household pays enough of them. But we could *change literally nothing else* and look at things like how it's cheaper to house homeless people than to not, and not only take care of people but also save money doing it.

Some things can be better AND it doesn't cost more money or hours of labor. We just have to actually DO it.

It's a fact that the virus affects BIPOC communities disproportionately for all the reasons that have been stated in this thread: poverty, underlying health conditions caused by historical inequities, uneven access to healthcare, increased exposure due to employment, and possibly genetics. Not sure how you can say it has nothing to do with being a person of color and then go on to make baseless, stereotypical, and frankly tiring assumptions about what life is actually like for people of color like me who also happen to live in working class, majority BIPOC neighborhoods, none of whom are asking for "free college, free food, and free flying cars," but are trying to figure out the underlying causes for why this disease is, in fact, affecting some demographics more than others.
Show me a doctor that refused to treat someone because of the color of their skin and I will stand next to you in support. You are referring to "class" not "color". I am still lower class and see no evidence that this virus or healthcare professionals are judging by skin color.
You can make any poll say what you want. Like my other post.... in Sweden there were more white cases, in Mexico there are more Hispanic cases, in Africa more black cases. The virus doesn't care what color your skin is and neither does any health care provider. POC are not the only ones in the "class" you are referring to.

I mean, it doesn't have to be straight up "I won't treat you because of your skin tone". It can be as simple as "I don't think you're sick when you say you are because I view people with your skin tone as untrustworthy".

But since you said you'd change your mind if you saw it happen, here's 4 studies showing it happen. :)

Gavin Newsome is proposing 1.4$B for homeless, I guarantee any church will do better with better results.

I think that's enough for me for today lol. I get heated but it's not personal, I'm just passionate about my opinions.
*extends for handshake *?

Here's one showing doctors are just straight up less likely to suggest knee replacements to black people even though they're the best treatment for a condition that shows up more in black people due to genetics;
