@Sapphire Sebright
I feel it, but then those people, as it's been pointed out, go infect other folks - especially if they aren't careful. :T Because we can't stay away from one another totally - someone has to sell them their groceries and their household supplies and their animal feed when they're done with their superspreader. And they take up beds in hospitals that are sorely needed. We're in a pandemic. There's a plague. Bodies are stacked in refrigerated trucks with no room for them at the cemeteries. The only reason mortality rates are low is because our hospitals - already at their breaking point - have room. What about when it goes up more?

It's a race to the vaccine. And that's how it always was. We make laws to restrict behavior, even gathering sizes, for safety all the time. Buildings have gathering size restrictions based on fire codes already. Laws literally exist to tell people what to do for the good of others. One year of missed funerals for countless lives saved. It SHOULD be an easy equation to make. It's VERY sad when people think it's not and it's reflective of the person who thinks those things.

I meant it in more of a, "if everyone social distanced and wore masks and all, couldn't the gathering number be enlarged?" way.
That being said, I do understand where you're coming from. My father stayed home from a wake for his dear friend because I have diabetes and he didn't want to bring COVID back home. I still feel a bit guilty, especially because my father couldn't go and personally comfort his friend's family -- words on a screen are good, but words in person, from one person to another, are best.
I guess that what I'm trying to say is, if a person wants to go to, say, a funeral, then they should have the right to go -- if they understand the risk and are willing to take it, and follow the rules. If they don't want to take the risk -- like my father -- then they can stay home. But if they want to go and will follow the rules, then why shouldn't they be able to?
My church has a cathedral. If we all social distanced with masks, staying six feet apart, we could easily fit 75 to 100 people in the cathedral. But we aren't allowed to.

Ok, so, do you not see the flaws in that logic? Apparently not, so I will go through and point it out then?
"I disagree with people saying everyone should stay home and not live their lives."- Nobody is asking anyone to stop living their lives. You are being asked to make reasonable accommodations to your life in order to protect others, IE the greater good.
"I disagree with people blaming others for their inability to keep themselves healthy. "- If you expose someone who then exposes someone I come into contact with, you have just taken away my ability to keep myself healthy.
"If they can’t be bothered to help themselves how can they expect others to make sacrifices to help them?"- What other steps do you recommend we take then to protect ourselves?

I strongly disagree. There has been a great many times in my life that words on a screen brought more comfort to me than anything said or done in person.
You’re living in a fantasy land. None of it is sustainable. 😂

For the “educator” that thinks I should be ignored. Nowhere did I ever state I had people over or ignored all of the guidelines.
Thanksgiving at my house was just me, my wife, son and two brothers. Usually I have cousins and at least my MIL.
You’re all assuming I have thrown caution out the window. I have not. I have only said you don’t have the right to tell me or anyone else what they should be doing.
The distain in how you addressed Sour makes me think you feel that because he has an educator badge he does not have the right to ignore someone. Can you tell me why you feel that way?
I agree I do not have the right to tell you or anyone else what you should be doing. That is what morals and laws are for.

Which one? Staying home and businesses being hammered with 25% capacity isn’t sustainable for very long. 1/3 of all small business have already closed down here. When does it end?
It ends when everyone educates themselves enough to follow the guidelines instead of being willfully ignorant to the science. I have a small business, and yeah, we are suffering, but I am willing to continue to make sacrifices to protect other human beings. I can't argue you into caring about other people though.

I could but it’s really none of your business so I won’t but it has nothing to do with any badge. What laws would you like to see put in place to protect the vulnerable without killing the economy?
A small business suffering isn’t the same as 1/3 of small businesses shuttered here because of the measures that have been enacted back in the spring. Which by the way didn’t help anything except preventing the hospitals from being overloaded.

See, this is where the true disagreement lies. Because I do not feel anyone should be gathering. But, it is not up to me to tell you whether you can put yourself and others into danger. However, I do hope that if they choose to do so, they do so with an informed understanding backed by research of actual scientific studies, and not just reading crap that reinforces their incorrect belief of something.

How do you think those businesses would be doing if the pandemic went unchecked? Have you ever studied the plagues in history?

You just admitted you shouldn’t be telling anyone what to do. That was my only complaint people just continue to push their beliefs on others. 🤣
