I just told you what the precautions are in this state. The rest of the basic hygiene precautions should be followed by all modern civilizations.
Maybe you could break it down and explain to me what you’ve been seeing out and about that doesn’t meet your approval? Although I’d wonder what you’ve seen since you’ve been home.
I don't follow your logic? Are you asking me if I have seen personally people not following those guidelines? Do I have to see them myself to know they exist, since they are here on this thread arguing that the measures are not effective? Do you need to see a baby seahorse to know that they do in fact exist if there are adult seahorses?

Why are the cases going through the roof here? The measures have been in place and cases dropped but now they’re rising again. Could it be the temp? Ya know like 😳 flu season?

Or, could it be that people are not following the measures because they refuse to take them seriously? Intriguing questions indeed.

I don’t need to get sick to know flu cases rise in fall and winter. I actually have seen a baby sea horse. 😉

Well nursing home cases are going up here too. They’re all healthcare professionals who are wearing masks and taking it deadly serious. Why are they going up? Let me guess it all because of the few visitors they get?

This was the case of my friend whose 30 year old son is in ICU and whose entire family has been exposed. It hadn't hit close to home so it could not be real.

It's a little nuts out here right now. Almost everyone where I work, including myself, is working from home via computer. Thank God for Zoom. Many are out of work altogether, so I feel very lucky.

All of the restaurants here are closed to inside guests, but most are doing take out. Many stores are doing parking lot delivery-- no going inside, except for grocery type stores.

The Canada border remains closed, and that is hurting businesses here, big time. But hey, traffic is better, so there's that.

Just about everyone is wearing masks, including myself. Masks and hand sanitizer are expensive, but worth it! Why mess around when these things can help? They aren't a guarantee of anything, but they do help if used properly. It's a matter of scientific fact, not opinion!

My brother, a niece and a nephew (5 years old) have all gotten COVID, but were asymptomatic. My brother works at a hospital where employees are constantly tested-- otherwise, he would never have known he had it. His wife and other daughter never got it.

Yet others I know have gotten very, very sick and have required hospitalization.

Christmas is pretty much taking a year off. That's fine with me. I look forward to when we are past this and normality can return. Until then, I plan on staying as safe as possible, and I hope others will, too.

Now you are catching on! Yes. That is VERY LIKELY the cause. OR the healthcare workers families that are exposed and exposing them.

Correct. I'm sorry to hear it has hit so closely to home for you my friend, and pray it doesn't come any closer. :hugs :hugs

@EmtheFishLady you're speaking in generalities. What precautions exactly do you want people to follow? As I’ve already said the masks are being worn here, the businesses are at reduced capacities etc.. The cases are still rising. Over 6K today alone.
What does the science say? What else can be done?
Where is this? When I look at the math it is the same for small towns as well as big cities. About 1% of the population has active covid. And the same for the bigger city... larger population.
when the data comes in we will see more.
I dislike the rules for some but not for others. When salons are shut down but politicians still get their hair done.???
Virus is dangerous they say- shut down churches, but protests are okay???Shut down small businesses but big stores, Walmart, Menards is okay??? No motor boats!! But the governor says it is okay for her husband? Curfews- ? Do viruses stop after 11pm? California Governor says no large groups- yet we have video of him dining with a large group??? I have seen a mom arrested for taking her kids to a park? They were wrong about surfaces- they were wrong about many things! Our executive orders was recommended a mask and exempted people with heath issues, deaf people - read lips, ptsd, and surprised- they exempted the Governor’s office from the mandate.
drama sells on news- fear is a good way to control people. Faith over fear! Hope over panic.

Be kind, be respectful and be safe.

Literally daily multiple people go into my partners work to shop maskless. If they have a "Doctors Note" (often dubious, fake, and not actually covered by the ADA) they have to let them in maskless because of company policy. About once every two week someone with no fake notes has to be forcibly escorted from the grocery store premises ranting about their freedom for being maskless. I'm talking armed guards because they literally start threatening the people working there when asked to wear a wee scrap of fabric. It's amazing how fragile people are and how often they refuse to wear their masks.
Nine cases this week. In that one store.

Our TSC is in a highest-risk county (extreme uncontrolled spread). EVERY time I walk in there, there' customers maskless and most of the employees aren't covering their nose with their masks. They're still using neck gaiters too which have been proven to INCREASE the spread not reduce.

And people can't get why it's still spreading fast. Because we started late. Because people DON'T comply. Because people DO have to go to work to care for those selfish humans - even after they deliberately put themselves in harms way. They spread it to others very quickly by refusing to wear masks and we end up with Typhoid Mary's on every corner. It's a mess. But masking DOES help - tons of studies show it - and if we could increase compliance it would help more.

Lots of ways to do that. Arrest and fine lawbreakers. Refuse access to businesses, lines and closed spaces without a mask unconditionally and offer curbside pickup for people with ADA needs for being unmasked.
We could even pay people to stay home from work, put rent moratoriums up, force businesses to go remote, put a moratorium on business rent etc. Make sure that the loss of income doesn't force people out of homes or into extreme poverty. But a lot of that isn't happening either.
We could general strike (ha) and demand better action be taken, by both businesses and lawmakers.
Lots of ways to push people to act on all that but they're tricky. Ranked voting may put more active/representative politicians in office who are willing to pass measures to keep people safe. We could protest and riot, but then you end up going to jail where cases are terribly high. You can push people socially like we do here - not a lot of minds changed but you don't change peoples minds by fighting online. Instead you reassure others they're on the right path and pressure people with rubbish opinions to back down and not spread their waste about.

And no, it's not sustainable. But we'll have a well vaccinated population by the end of 2021. And being unwilling to sacrifice for the greater good of others - especially temporarily!- is a moral choice, one that others are welcome to judge people for. You can stand up and say "Old people should die so randos can go shopping" but everyone always has the option of telling you what an AWFUL idea that is and what we think of you for it.

My money is on the the healthcare workers who are around the patients day in and day out who have to be there to care for them not the visitors who are definitely aware of the risks. No one yet has disputed that elderly people are at greater risk and those in nursing homes even more so. I would think those family members wouldn’t be visiting if they were sick. Oh wait maybe you mean they shouldn’t get any visitors because they could be asymptomatic carriers and not know it?
