Thank you. Don't know how coherent that actually was, but I am glad somebody is kind enough to profess to actually get me! Sigh. Sometimes it helps to just let off a little steam now and again.

They are rabbit jawbones. We clean bones with some surprisingly cute and well tempered flesh eating beetles. The teeth are painted gold and approximately match the wiring in bright light. The wire is plated copper and the hooks are 14K gold plated steel.

Very creative! Gotta love those cadaver beetles.

The snipe IS a real bird, Google it, there are several varieties. But you can't catch them with a burlap sack.

Don't be silly ... According to the "Birds Are Fake" link, birds are just government surveillance drones. Ergo, snipes cannot be "real birds" as they are actually camera spy robots for the government. It also means that you have never been on or party to a "Snipe Hunt." Google that one and you'll understand why we're all chuckling over it. It's the outdoor version of sending someone to fetch a "left handed pipe wrench" or a box of "sailboat fuel."
Oh - and if anyone ever invites you to go on a snipe hunt with them, give them the Mr. Spock eyebrow and "pass" on the opportunity.

Well, y'know, everyone has their own way of hunting snipe. It may have something to do with the native habitat. We were surrounded by cornfields and overgrown field cover, so the burlap worked for us. I hear others had better luck with a wooden barrel, but there are all sorts of methods. I guess we can't really knock 'em 'til we've tried them all. Anybody up for some snipe hunt research?

It could be months before everyone gets access to a vaccine...
...and who knows what kind of new info and results come about in that time.
The big vaccine news is going to be taken as security/safety, tho false.

I have my fingers crossed that having had the virus will keep my immunities up until the vaccine is fully vetted. I do NOT want to go through that again!

I can still see my cousin Kenny slinking carefully in a half circle around that open burlap sack ... gently tapping a pair of dirty, used horseshoes (no "new-steel" smell to warn the skittish creatures of the trap) and calling out sniiiii-IPE. sniiii-IPE for the better part of an hour. Kenny never was the brightest crayon in the box, but he was persistent, and a VERY good sport when he finally figured it out ... several days later!

amazing!! We didn’t use any horse shoes but they used to have kids crawling all over that dang field and you’d have to be very QUIET
