Can't wait to see the back of this year. Even though I realize it's at best an artificial line we'll be crossing, New Year will at least be a new year and we can hope for better.

We're more cat people than dog people; we had to send two of our kitties "over the bridge" in the last few months. Narsil had some un-diagnosed condition that despite steroids and medication and multiple vet visits just kept getting thinner and thinner and was obviously miserable, then a few months later his brother Mithril who had been on medication for years couldn't walk one morning and refused to eat. They were littermates of not quite sixteen. Major Tom has been diagnosed diabetic so he's getting insulin twice a day now. Thankfully it's not very expensive so there's that at least.

My last pup was my sweet Pekingese Kellie girl, and I still miss her almost 15 years later.

Ahhh hah, a fan of David Bowie & LOTR it would seem, eh? :pop

I'm telling ya man, bang pots and pans or scream out the door on midnight. Gotta scare the old year away.
Yup - and while I'm at , maybe the noise will scare away that persistent vixen and her two kits from last year. Not only am I tired of constantly worrying about my biddies and readjusting my predator-deterrents, but Crazy Dog goes ballistic when Mama is out there - and there is NO WAY we're keeping her in when her job is outside. If she had a thicker coat (and wasn't addicted to DD's bed,) she'd make an awesome LGD ... at least until the birds get out. THEN they morph from "Charges To Protect" into "Fast-Moving Ultimate Canine Squeaky Toys." She could easily catch and destroy them, but apparently chasing them is MUCH more fun ... just not to the chickens!

Ahh, I wish I could have cats but G and D are BOTH allergic. ;o;

The only way I get cats is when I have a barn for them. :T
When you do, be sure to adopt! It's REALLY hard for shelters to adopt out barn cats. They're not all crazy-feral, either. Some are super friendly, but can't stand to be cooped inside. My sister's got a passel of them on her dairy farm. They all come when called (or the food barrel gets shaken!) but you can't keep a single one of them behind a closed door for more than the time it takes to steal a treat out of the dogs' bowls. They're all spayed & neutered, too, so she adopts regularly, to keep their population up and the rodents' down!

Aloha kakahiaka and Ha'ole Makahiki Hou!

I am ready for the calendar change!!! God Lord I hope things don't get worse in 2021 and as many know, it always can. DH and I are taking our cats and dog up Koke'e to escape the Kekaha warzone. Dog has been stoned for days but it did not keep him from crawling into the shower last night. Beside the noise escape, both cats and dog love it up there so it will be a nice treat. Wish I had set myself up to take the cooks and horses, hopefully next time or at least one day soon.

It is a beautiful day today in the low/mid 80's, seems a little warm for almost January but the mountain air will be plenty cold, probably in the high 50's. I am making a few quiches with my extra eggs for aunty and also for us to take up for an easy dinner and breakfast treat. I'll be down in time to open up the overcrowded mini coop for the young'uns. Maybe blast my horn as I travel through town lol.

I installed a cute used apron hanger on my big coop and some sunshades to the recently finished part of the back deck. Loving the convenience and defused sunlight. Next I am changing the sheets and taking out the rubbish! Good Bye, buenos dias, sayonara, alooooha 2020!!
I'll try to stay up till 12 (though it will be definingly quiet and our only time tellers will be our phones) to bang some pots at the front door. I am going to cut some Ti leaf and tie to our entrance and exits and sprinkle some Hawaiian salt to keep bad spirits away. They may be looking for somewhere new to camp :tongue

Cheers folks! Here is to a safe and sane new year all!!! 🍻🥂🍸🍹🍾🍺🍺🍺🎆🎆🎆🎉 And I am looking forward to having a much better chance at health, wealth and much happiness for everyone in 2021!!!! Be safe all!!!

That's the plan, honestly. We're gonna contact all our rescue people, especially local Trap Neuter Release groups and see about just bringing in 2-3 feral cats. They get shelter from weather and a snack sometimes - I get small rodent control. It's win-win.

Okay, I gotta ask, are they "placed there on the fence" for the picture OR are they on guard duty?

Truth be told, I actually missed the shot. They were playing as usual and there were six or seven of them up on the fence (WWll landing mat) just being silly. I watched them for a few seconds b4 it dawn on me to grab my camera, so by the time I walked out to where they were a couple had moved over or jumped down. Just a bunch of big silly babies, just the way we like them and so easy to love!

My DH does not want to go up Koke'e because the winds have picked up. That makes being up there kinda scary with all of the big trees. IDK, scarier down here IMO. I'll keep working on him, it really is hideous insane to be in this neighborhood on the 1st and the 4th.

*** I should add that a lot of lizards like to hang out on that fence and in the Stephanotis... he he he!

Well, first big bomb just went off less than a block away and it is not even 4pm here... think I will take the dog up and park at the pavilion and walk the 100 yards to the cabin. :hmm
