That's great. I have also been one to find a hidden gift for one of the kids. 😁.
Reminds me of a dog we had when I was a kid. Waldo was a big, black, monstrously furry fellow with a huge grin and an even larger personality. We think he was a labradoodle, decades before they became designer doofuses. He was, without a doubt, the perfect dog. He found us when he was dropped on our farm lane by owners who must have been surprised at how big their "puppy" grew.

The triggered memory involves Waldo, our huge backyard and a lone Easter Egg. Every year, my Mom hid eggs out back and around the house - LOTS of eggs! And she counted them all, so she knew we'd found them all ... or at least most of them. We were always one or two short. Waldo had a reputation as a killer egg hunting dog - he ALWAYS found the last one ... it was just usually sometime in June. He would appear out of nowhere, tossing his find in the air and rolling it around the yard for hours before he finally broke it. The Easter Egg Hunt was officially over when Waldo presented himself at the back door, expecting to be let inside wearing his wonderful new cologne. Funny how everyone stood around watching and laughing while he was playing ... but disappeared when it was bath time!

I see this thread went all over the place since I last posted. Now I'm hungry!

I didn't get a Christmas or New Year's celebration this year because I am still dealing with COVID. I'm still exhausted, and I got a chest wall infection that makes breathing and talking painful. Everyone else in my household recovered very quickly. Mine has dragged on and on and on... I'm hoping I can go back to work next week after a month off. I still can't taste or smell anything, and I can't even take a shower without needing to sit down. COVID sucks, yo. But I am grateful as all get put that I never developed the pneumonia!

But - of course - I sincerely hope everyone is well! I keep hearing of loved ones dying...
:hit
I'm SO glad to hear that you're healing and that your family had an easy(ish) time with the virus! It's no fun to deal with, that's for sure. I've been over it for a couple of months, now, and I still have breathing and light-headedness issues. I'm told to just treat the symptoms ... but zheesh ... forever? It gets better, though. Keep yourself hydrated and make sure you get your rest. Naps are your friend!
Prayers for further healing!

Great memory, MROO! Thanks for sharing!

I adore that last pic!!!! Love this set up!!!
Thanks! My kids outgrew the playhouse, so I took over. It's been pretty predator proof, so far. I don't worry too much about digging. There's an 8" deep concrete barrier under the soil along the outside edge and the main coop is way above ground, but there are weak spots in the wire on the lower run and some of the wood is starting to go. I wouldn't worry too much, except that the evil red canines are, even now as I type, barking behind my garage. That's the white building behind the coop. A few weeks ago, DS saw Mama Fox on TOP of the garage. Apparently she climbed the tree behind it. Gotta get me a chain saw, now. What we do for our chickens!

Change of subject for a min. DH and I under "house arrest" hopefully just one more day. Last Thursday we both had some concerning symptoms so decided to go get the Uncomfortable Nasal Swab. Coughing, fever (100.0), body ache, headache, loss of appetite, conjunctivitis (yes, pinkeye!), earache, sore throat, for me, mostly just coughing for DH... results tomorrow or Monday, but we and both kiddos on lockdown till we hear. DH still suffering, along with coughing he seems to have a lot of anxiety and can't settle. My symptoms have improved but not completely gone so I'm thinking sinus infection from allergies. Kiddos showing minor signs, mild symptoms. Fingers crossed! Will keep you posted.
Hydrate everybody til their back teeth float! That's the first way to fight the beast - and water won't hurt you if you don't have the virus.

Will do, thanks! I am, but it seems a lot more is going in than is coming out. Other than cough and achy feeling, I don't feel terribly "sick." Does any of this sound like Covid to you?
