Thanks, Rainey! Oh yes, it definitely matters! I'd lot rather know I have an uncomfortable but harmless sinus infection than have Covid, which might result in my getting entubated and possibly die from! I'm high-risk and we have a special-needs kid to finish raising. Neither DH nor I can do it alone, and there is no one else to step up and help. Please God, don't let us have Covid.
DO NOT OVER STRESS ABOUT THIS! Save your energy for fighting the bug. I know that's easier said than done, but remember that the majority of people who get covid come through it just fine, even those of us who are high risk. Treat it like you would a wonky flu - rest, fluids, etc. Warm fluids are best - soups, tea, broth, warm cider - as heat kills the virus. For the aches, pains and headaches (fluids helped our headaches, too) use Tylenol/acetaminophen (not ibuprofen or naproxin.)

Get an external (not oral) thermometer and an oxymeter - the little oxygen gauge that clips on the end of your finger. You don't need a fancy medical one - one of the cheap ones that runners use is fine. Your pharmacy or WalMart should have them for well under $20. Keep an eye on your oxygen levels - they should stay in the mid 90's. If they dip below 90, it's time for a hospital run. It most likely won't, but it's a good barometer.

The best advice I can offer is this - Don't let the numbers and the horror stories scare you. Yes, it's real. Yes, it's scary, but the reality is also this - for every individual who suffers complications, there are hundreds - HUNDREDS - of others who come through just fine.
You can do this!

FYI - Those hugs are six feet apart! :D

I used electric netting to expand my chicken yard, too. It's been great! Pricey, but worth it, imo, with the predator load. Seems we have similar ones lurking around.
Can you cut access breaks in poultry netting? I'm getting mixed info on that. No one around here uses it, so I don't have any guidance other than the manufacturer ... who just wants to sell me the fence!
My coop and run are pretty small and very irregular in shape. Access to the multiple levels and the divided run are widely separated. To get to each of the three doors and all of the cleanouts, we'd need multiple breaks in the fence - at least six. That means either cutting the fence into really short sections or making a perimeter pen so wide that foxes could easily jump it ... or come over the garage roof ... the little schmidt!

I was told no by our manufacturer, but it's a circuit, right? It would take some significant doing (you'd have to rewore the ends to make sure the circuit is completed, have a different energizer for each section, etc.), but you might be able to. Where'd you order from? I ordered from Premier 1, and they have been soooo helpful. I can call them anytime with questions. We have a local farm supply store that supplies our energizer. They are more than happy to help, too.

I hope you get well sooner than later! LOTS of rest. When I push it and do more than I should, I pay the price!
No worries. I ache like I've been the lead bicycle in a crash at the Tour de France, lol. Theme song: Take It Easy by the Eagles.

Oh, BigBlueHen. I'm so sorry! Your situation sounds awful. I wish I could reach out and help. But we're behind you in spirit.

Keep in mind that the mortality rate is under 2% and take care of yourselves.
Absolutely! Movie in the player, a chicken in the crock pot, a heated blanket on my recliner, and everybody leave me alone! GirlChild is losing her sense of taste, sorry to say. Otherwise we're all good.

Ooh, thanks. Two weird symptoms I have had so far: one day I simply had no appetite all day. I could smell and taste, I just did not want anything. My Kid experienced that today, and he is 14 and normally eats like a horse! The other odd symptom was skin sensitivity. My clothes hurt! They felt as if they had been rolled in sand. Even my softest garments felt abrasive to me. That went away Saturday during the day, but I felt it again somewhat Saturday night, but not as intensely. It's a creepy feeling.
(Hugs) hang in there.

Just want to echo MROO. Don't let the hype get to you.:hugs

For starters go look at my coop thread.
2ndly, I'm almost done with the inside Mod to bring the silkies into the coop.
I have the avian netting.

I like it. It cuts with good scissors BUT, it has an achilles heel! Rats/mice can and have chewed through it. I will not use it where Hardware cloth is recommended (on the ground line and underground).

I expect to update with a few extra shots for ya to see details?
