On a different note, my daughter got her second vaccine injection. She said that one was rough. Lots of soreness in her arm and a day in bed with flu-like symptoms (be aware; do it anyway!) but now she's far safer than she's been for the last year.

Good on her. My buddy who's a corrections officer took it and had the symptoms too.
I heard that Pope Francis said he was going to be taking it and encouraged others to do so as well, saying that it's their ethical duty. I agree completely, and will be taking it when it comes time.

Well. Got tested today. I went ahead and went in for a med check. While there asked the doctor.. So, is not smelling things the right way a sign..and also, I can taste, but barely. Then I told him that our grandson that lives with us now, 2 years old is all, has been very sick. He hurried and wrote things down, says, yes, you should be tested. Everyone is different. Especially where you have someone sick in the house. He's young, but they can carry. I'm different anyway! Serious. With all I've been through with other tests..MRI on brain, neck x-ray, nerve test on arms. All coming from a neurologist office last month. Trying to figure out my ..ahem...woozy head. It's been going on for a long time. No one can figure me out. Won't go into all of the details. Anyway, doing the waiting game..again. I don't think I have the virus.

How are you doing in there BigBlueHen53?

Hanging in there, thanks, Shad! DH is really struggling with his cough, but has no fever and his oxy sat is 96-97% so I guess he doesn't have pneumonia. ... ? He has to stay upright though, if he even sits in a recliner he has coughing fits. I don't know whether to worry or not....

As for me, I just want to sleep. My temp is down close to normal but I have body ache and fatigue. Just .... let ... me ... sleeeep, lol! Neither of us want to eat. I made some instant mashed potatoes and heated up a jar of gravy. That's all I ate all day. Letting the kids fend for themselves. They'll survive!

Who is this lovely hen checking on me? Toss her something yummy for me. She's a pretty girl.

About O2 levels with the oximeter; if you are breathing harder/ faster than normal to keep that level up, it's not really a 'normal' O2 level. 90% that takes extra effort to achieve is still a problem!
Mary
We just relax and breathe normal. DH 96%, me 97%. Well within normal parameters.

I think it's a flexible concept. 95% is when my doctor starts trying to impress on me that I need to take things seriously. But then I, like MROO, have a long history of asthma and bronchitis and also trouble identifying difficulty until I get into bigger trouble.

Can't tell you how relieved we all are and how grateful that she got through this awful year without getting infected or bringing infection home to her family.

Fingers crossed that those vaccines will get rolled out into the public!
That's great, Rainey! Bet you are all breathing a sigh of relief! I know I will when I can get that shot in the arm!

Tell you husband to get some steam, BigBlueHen. And keep taking in as much fluid as he can. Incline the foot of the bed to cause the phlegm in his lungs to work its way "down" to the top of his lungs where it will be easier to cough out freeing up his alveoli to take in oxygen.

Has he been prescribed inhalers and steroids? They are important defenses in keeping the body oxygenated so it can heal. It's important to keep ahead of the fluid build up in his lungs.

This is, of course, NOT medical advice. Only the practical advice of someone who's dealt with respiratory disease for 40 years or so.

No, nothing has been prescribed or recommended. We have not seen a doctor. We just got swabbed and told if we have difficulty breathing to go to the ER. He is not having difficulty breathing or an elevated temp. He says he is not even sore from coughing, and he is fine as long as he either remains upright or lies on his side. He doesn't seem to think he needs anything except a cough suppressant every four hours.
