Sadly, though, there have been incidents of hate crimes. According to the LA Times:

Since coronavirus shutdowns began last March, thousands of Asian Americans have faced racist verbal and physical attacks or have been shunned by others, according to a study released Tuesday.

The report by Stop AAPI Hate documents 3,795 racially motivated attacks against Asian Americans from March to February, noting that the number is likely a fraction of the attacks that occurred, because many were not reported to the group.

Stop AAPI Hate formed last March in response to attacks related to the perception that Asians were responsible for the coronavirus because of its origins in Wuhan, China. The group did not collect data in previous years to show whether attacks against Asians have increased during the pandemic.

About 68% of the anti-Asian attacks documented in the study were verbal harassment, 21% were shunning and 11% were physical assaults.

And how many arrests were made?
Seems to be a lot of ignoring of our laws in the US.

Okaayyyyyy, you kinda missed the point. But it's a Friday night, so It's understandable.

You asked why anyone should feel bad for Asian Americans, and my (and also Molpet's) post answered your question. If you are interested in the number of arrests, you can certainly look that up. Of course, laws are ignored all the time. Point being, let's be careful not to appear to lay blame on an entire race of people (I don't think you were doing that, I'm just saying it's good that you aren't, because others are and it is causing real harm to innocent people.)

Babies are dying
The coronavirus has killed an estimated 1,300 babies in Brazil since the beginning of the pandemic, even though there's overwhelming evidence that Covid-19 rarely kills young children.

While data from the Health Ministry suggest that over 800 children under age 9 have died of Covid-19, including about 500 babies, experts say the real death toll is higher because cases are underreported because of a lack of widespread coronavirus testing, according to the BBC, which first reported the story.

Experts in Brazil say low coronavirus testing rates, lack of contact tracing efforts and a shortage of vaccines have contributed to rises in cases and deaths. These factors have also increased the risk of exposure and potential death among more Brazilian babies and children.
