As @hispoptart , and others have mentioned, many vaccines are required for some workers, school children ,and travelers going abroad. We are required to wear clothes in public, wear seat belts, not fire bazookas at home, lots of things that limit our 'freedoms' so we can function in society.
This one vaccine is a hot button issue only because of some politicians and 'influencers' deciding to push fantasies.
I'm 'more mature', and the only well tested vaccine I've had was the smallpox vaccine, which we all got, for good reasons. Had that one twice, myself. Then the DPT vaccine was pretty new, and got that one, and since several times. Would have loved to have missed having measles, German measles, and chicken pox, and our children got those vaccines when they came out.
Polio vaccines, got them as soon as they came out too.
And rabies vaccines? Had two experimental ones while in college, and a few well tested ones since.
I don't get the problem people are having with this extremely well tested C-19 vaccine.

Except this “vaccine” (which I did get), does not prevent me from getting or spreading covid...it isn’t really a vaccine. I got other vaccines and I will not get those diseases.

This was sitting above my work station yesterday at work. And yes, I remember the Smallpox and Polio vaccines.:old

Those are such important vaccines. They prevented people from getting and spreading those diseases. The covid vaccine does not guarantee you won’t get or spread Covid. That’s where I don’t see it as equal to the other vaccines.

Because the C-19 vaccine is very very likely to keep you out of the hospital or morgue!!!
And vaccinated people appear to be contagious for a shorter time.
And the more folks who are vaccinated, the fewer variants are going to develop.
And the cost of those hospitalizations is carried by all of us.
And because it's the right thing to do.

" A post from a toxicologist claiming “…it is the vaccinated NOT [sic] the unvaccinated spreading the mutant variants.”
The toxicologist said her theory is backed by science, due to the “classic” example of Marek’s disease in chickens from a 2015 study from Pennsylvania State University Professor of Biology and Entomology Andrew Read."

“I'm actually quite terrified that people could die because my work has been misinterpreted,” Read told KARE-11.
His study showed a vaccine for Marek’s disease prevented chickens from dying but still allowed the virus to spread freely between flocks. His team's work showed the herpesvirus mutated into a variant that became even deadlier for the unvaccinated chickens.
Some people, like this toxicologist, wrongly applied the logic of Read’s study to the current COVID-19 pandemic, coming up with the vaccines-equal-deadlier-variants conclusion.

He said vaccines don't cause viruses to mutate, replication does. The more a virus spreads, the more chances it gets to randomly improve.

Here's an important difference between the vaccine given to the chickens and the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines given to humans right now.
“All chickens with that vaccine were able to transmit the virus on,” said Read.
This is much different than the current understanding of COVID vaccines, which research has shown do "substantially reduce" transmission.
This is key, because again, less spread means less mutation.
“The conclusion is not, therefore, don't vaccinate. That's not the conclusion at all, and it’s very clear if you read the paper. The history of the chicken industry is laid out clearly in the discussion. The solution to this all came through vaccines and every chicken in the industry has been better off for being vaccinated than being not vaccinated,” said Read.
He points out in the discussion section of his research that it is still unclear whether the chicken vaccines even played a role in the mutation of the virus.

I just want to state that I am NOT anti-vaccine. I just think either it should be mandated for EVERYONE who is receiving benefits of any type from the government, OR not mandated for those who are currently working.

Also, I have a problem with something being called a vaccine and not actually fully preventing someone from getting sick. The last report I check from our county had 55 hospitalized and 22 of them were vaccinated individuals. Finally, if a nurse already had covid, he/she should definitely not be forced to get a vaccine since he/she is carrying antibodies that are in the vaccine.

Finally, when I was vaccinated on a Sunday, the day after I spiked a fever and felt like crap. I had to use my own sick time. But if I got my vaccine on a Monday, I would not have had to use time to go to get the vaccine. Part of the frustration is that the rules are different for different people in different situations and change daily. 6 feet, 3 feet, no mask, mask, kids are not transmitting, oops schools ARE superspreadors, vaccinated people are not being hospitalized, wait almost half of hospitalized in my are are vaccinated.etc etc.

Not anti vacc here either, I was vaccinated no biggie, just have questions and they don't seem to have honest answers.
Just supposed to 'trust them'.
They can't seem to get anything straight, they say it's because the 'science is evolving' but when it comes to the vaccine 'the science is settled'.

"The Axios-Ipsos poll released Tuesday (last month)found that 53 percent of respondents said they didn’t have very much trust or no trust at all in this administration to provide accurate information about the coronavirus."

Then we hear how filled up hospitals are ;

Our Most Reliable Pandemic Number Is Losing Meaning

A new study suggests that almost half of those hospitalized with COVID-19 have mild or asymptomatic cases. There are many COVID patients in the hospital with fairly mild symptoms, too, who have been admitted for further observation on account of their comorbidities, or because they reported feeling short of breath. Another portion of the patients in this tally are in the hospital for something unrelated to COVID, and discovered that they were infected only because they were tested upon admission.
Did they need treatment for COVID, or was there some other reason for admission, like cancer treatment or a psychiatric episode, and the COVID diagnosis was merely incidental?

Then we hear on most the news channels, MSM, hospitals two different states two different stories Oklahoma and Louisiana overwhelmed with horse wormer over doses they couldn't even treat gunshot victims. There is even a thread here BYC on it.
It was all fake news completely made up, the hospitals in question said they were not treating a single person for it not one and no one was being denied service.
