Geez, all we got when I was in school (apparently basically the same age as @Hayden Goseek ) was a smiley face or a gold star!!!

Crybaby! The most I ever got was a big red A+ in the right hand corner of my paper! My Kid comes home with a caffeine-laced soda, which he knows better than to drink because he's ADHD and it'll knock him out for hours, lol.

The middle schoolers, yes. The elementaries got toys. He doesn't go to that school now he's in hs. They may be passing out vapes at this level, who knows. We've got him in a Christian academy now. They are making him knuckle down more.

My mother tried to pound into us the desire to do things out of a sense of duty. She wasn't terribly successful. My first DH did better, teaching me to take pride in a job done well. That's one good thing I got from him. Trying to instill it in my kids. But I'm having about the same success as my mom, lol. Is everybody just inherently lazy until they hit their 30's?
