It turns out I have a rare syndrome called seratonin syndrome. I can't take Ssris maois or painkillers. So benozos and Ssris are not at option for me. I've been trying CBD for my anxiety and it has helped but it doesn't take me out of an attack. Really hoping my state legalizing at least medical use soon (all the surrounding states have) so I can legally use THC to regulate these. I don't want to break the law but I don't want panic attacks that send me to the ER either. Right now I'm just maintaining. All I can do until it's legal. I watched a special about how states where it's legal got an FDA cleared version of CBD for autism but so far it's only approved for that. I'm hoping it gets approved for anxiety soon.

How does CBD help autism, do you know? Or have a link?

Jumping into this thread many, many pages after my last post, but COVID continues to affect my daily life

I'm a teacher, and I got laid off because so few kids go to school anymore. No kids attending school = no money. No money = no job for me.

I'm so bummed. I LOVE my school. I LOVE my kids. And I really feel like I'm making a difference working with these kids who have been affected by trauma.

I'm sad and angry, but I get it. Off I go to another school district with a long commute...

The schools are not opening back up yet? They are here ...

Just ... quit? High school? What are they doing? That's no bueno!
I know, right?! Some are homeschooled, I'm sure, but they're still on our rosters.

Folks were pretty angry about the kids having to wear masks. It got ugly here with protests and walk-outs and hostility. I'm guessing they just told their kids they didn't have to go if we had to wear masks. We don't have to wear them anymore, but the kids just aren't coming. Idk.

There was a bill passed (AB 104) that excused seniors from some credits because it would be impossible for them to make up everything they missed during virtual schooling. I know that prompted some kids to stay home. I think others are just thinking they'll go to summer school. I don't know what they'll do, tbh. Maybe GED?

We live where blue collar jobs are the norm, so graduation isn't as much of a necessity when you can work for dad's construction company or landscaping business at any time.

My 20-yo missed some 9th grade credits before the pandemic that would have prevented her from graduating with her class of 2020, so she dropped out in 2019. She went back in 2020 but then of course Covid hit and she never went back after that. She still wants her diploma, not a GED, so she's waiting till her 21st birthday so she can sign up for an adult remedial high school course. I sure hope it works out for her. She's kind of mad because if she had stayed in school she probably would have gotten her diploma with her class, even with the missing credits. Covid pretty much messed with her generation's education all over the place. She wants to get a business degree so she can someday open a coffee shop with cats available for adoption.

Good for her! I really believe that motivated people will navigate it just fine. And a business degree is a great choice!
