Once again, it is almost 1 a.m., and I am still awake!! I have to get up in like 5 hours and am still on this site!! It is sooo addictive! Too bad you can't get rich off raising chickens! I would be a millionaire by now!

Yeah I don't technically raise them either, not yet anyway. Now this spring I plan on building a really nice coop, kinda llike Mrs. AK's if you've seen pics of hers. I will have a total of 14 'pens' in it, 2 for large fowl, 8 for breeders (SF), and 4 for young chicks and quail. I will most likely need another coop though, as I already have 1 LF breed (my OEG), and am expecting to get 2 more for sure, but probably more like 5

I am on a list for BC marans and BLRW, plus I am thinking about ameracaunas and BBRed cubalayas. Might get some GC marans as well, those are real pretty! Plus I need a pen for my oddballs! Way too many birds!! I still need a house for my guineas and pens for my ducks, plus the turkeys I'm getting next month.

The BC marans are $25 for a dozen I think, which is the same I'm paying for the BLRW, so that's not bad. Now the cubalayas are the real expensive ones of the ones I want. They are either $30 or $35 for 12, can't remember which! Not sure how much the GC marans and ameracaunas are, but I'm sure my son will love the ameracaunas! He likes funny feathered things remember? He is also getting som frizzled polish, probably bantams, as that's all I can find. From someone right here in KY, so they won't need to be shipped!

I had someone offer to sell me some cuckoo marans chicks for $4 each, but I don't know about those. Not really set up yet for expensive chickens, I think the ones I have now cost me less than $100 for all that I have, so if I lose some, not counting the heartbreak, I'm not out that much. So far the most I've paid for 1 bird was $7 for my dutch hen, and $7 each for my guineas. I think one of my ducks was $7 as well, but not sure.

most of the time marans BLRW are more expensive then that but whatever It could just be a very good deal! I have some ameraucana and Blue and Black copper marans and I love them. Good luck getting yours !

And the cuckoo marans chicks are $4 each, but they are hatchery stock. Don't think I'm gonna get those. I'm not much for barred chickens.

Then I went to beddy bye...THEN hubby called me at 4 am to say that a buck just carrened into the front of the jeep while he was going 40mph...he couldnt find the buck to see if it needed PTS...but with all the blood Ronnie (hubby) explained, i assume he'll die shortly if not instantly and just got thrown outof the way.

Bumpers ripped up, but other than that i guess the jeeps fine..but hubbys gonna get it fixed, so im sure rental vehicle which scares me because he has to go back drill well roads (logging roads)....so i just hope that he can keep the rental from getting hurt blah!!!!

ona good note a guy at my moms work wants a hen i've been trying to find a home for for a long while...her names 'owl" she's deformed in some way...she stands up almost straight and she looksl ike an owl standing on a fence post looking for prey...very adorable but i deffinatly dont want her genes in my stock! LOL! Then he's being all complicated and he's like "i want a male for her" and im like "well then you'll want atleast 3 more hens" he's like "why" im like "because one male to one hen will cause tons of problems for the hen he could litterally kill her" so he'slike 'okay then a hen" and im like okay....and he'sl ike "i wanta colorful one" im like okay go on my website and let me know which color you'd be interested in" and he does...my mom calls me back "he either wants a tuxedo, or a speckled"

I'm like "umm....what's a speckled? I had a color up there a while back that i called speckled and thought it was a new strain I wanted to develop until i realized it was just a mismarked tuxedo...but i deleted that from the website" and she goes "no no this is an all white bird with speckles on it's head' *huh?!* "um..mom, i dont have any that lookl ike that and i certainly dont on my website..." LOL I dunno what that guys smokin...but whatever...lol! By the way, I said "is he meaning the A & Ms?" and mom goes "no not those these are all white on the body but have spots all over the head".......

But im sure he wants a tuxedo (and i see why they're so cute)!!! So now I'll have a heck of a time trying to sex a tuxedo chick for him once they're old enough...i guess i'll go off of the theory of beak color (supposedly dark beaks on tuxedos and tibes are males and light dark beaks on tuxedos and tibes are hens)...sigh...i hope that's really right..LOL!
