Coturnix Quail Basics- Information and Pictures Galore

Some of the best packages were done like that. I ordered a lot of eggs this summer, so I've seen what works and what doesn't. Now, the quail eggs are a little stickier!

But if you can immobilize them, they seem to survive the trip much better.

The ones I've sent have evidently been dropped really hard. Probably just tossed onto the truck. the1much said some of the ones in the middle of the box were broke! I put them on a few pieces of sheet stryfoam, and they are packed in a bubble wrapped egg carton, with pillow stuffing inside the carton. Plus I put more pieces of sheet styrofoam around the edges of the cartons as a spacer, plus paper or peanuts or what ever I have, but it still didn't work. I think maybe I need to use bigger boxes, or just not ship so many in a box. What would you recommend as the most to ship in a large priority box?

I use a regular flat-rate box up to about 15 eggs. Then move up to the large flat-rate box for up to 24 eggs, or more if they're small. It just depends on the situation.

I use the quail cartons (the open ones) and put pine shavings in after I put the eggs in so they don't move so much. Then I put more shavings over the eggs and wrap the whole carton with bubble wrap or foam - whatever I have. The secret is to minimize the movement as much as possible.

I think yours were the first eggs I ever sent. Did I do the pine shavings then too?

OH - and I meant to say blue BREASTED the other day - not blue faced. It was driving me crazy.
