I'm so new to quails. I bought some bob whites and a&m. 3 months ago. The breeder told me that the bob whites were going to start laying in late March. Still no eggs. I have in that pen two males and 5 females. Any advice?

I have a large aviary housing mostly males due to a skunk intrusion where most of my females were killed severely upsetting the balance. Then to add to the problem I had 13 survivors from a hatch of 16 from 60 eggs. All are males. Im working on getting some females for the guys and maybe that is why they are getting along alright. There are not very many females to fight over. They chase each other around and sometime try to gang rape my remaining females but I have not found any bloody ones yet, knock on wood.Must be the season! Mine were getting along fine until this weekend. It was bad enough when Queenie ( my dominant male) was putting the boys in their place, now he's pecking the ladies! Needless to say, we're building another coop as fast as we can! As to the name Queenie, let's just say I'm new at this and leave it at that! Wondering if anyone has a group living in peace with a dominant male and then other males who just stay out of his way.....any info would be great!
4 of my 7 were male. I put 1 with the 3 females and they got along just fine. The 3 remaining males did ok until they were about 6 1/2 weeks then started mating with each other and pulling feathers and crowing LOUD. So I separated them and bought some 6 week old females. 2 each. 1 male calmed down, another was semi calmed. The 3rd turned into a real bully. He "was" 8 weeks and today I just couldn't handle seeing him attack the girls and when neck feathers were gone he bit the skin and they were all bleeding.6 of my 9 quail are male. Sorted them out today due to blood on another one. Messy. So one pen with 5 males and one with 1 male and 3 females. Lone males are fine together so far. Hope to see eggs soon from the ladies.
Well my one male who had been calling was attacked by another pen mate. I don't think he is going to make it. We separated him and covered the wound with anti- pick. It's not pretty, back of his head and neck a mess. so I think I will try to get a emergency pen build tomorrow in case I need to move one more out. Dang it.
We do. Coutinix quail. We have 3 pens we call the senior, junior & whites. Named so bc our original male and hens comprised our oldest group, but they all are deceased now. Their first offspring comprised the junior group. Then I purchased a white roo and 2 white hens comprising the 3rd group. Now our juniors are in the senior pen along with another bunch we incubated last November are mixed in both those sr and jr pens. Anyway, that's probably confusing, so to answer your question, we have several males in both the jr and whites pens. Everyone gets along. But just recently I put a male white in the senior pen with another male- white from the same pen. That poor boy got pecked literally to death. I took him just a few days ago and put that purple goop on his bare,Must be the season! Mine were getting along fine until this weekend.
