cough/cold. gota help me out here

gallimycin or tylan50 injectible is most often prescribed for the symptoms you are describing.. however I am concerned about the fact you have used now...what...three different antibiotics so far and the reason I am concerned is:
1) did you finish the correct dosage for all the birds you had on the med...?
2)was there a waiting period before you started them on a new one...
3) did you give vitamins and probiotics anytime inbetween these medications (antibiotics kill off the GOOD bacteria in the gut too!)

the meds iv tried i have followed usual dosage and time period..usualy i waited around 10 days befor i started a new one maybe longer.i havent gave them any vitamins durring this time period .no probiotics..what gets me it might be 2-3-4- weeks befor another breakout.

I would give a good general vit/nutritional supplement such as AviaCharge 2000 or the general RoosterBooster supplement and offer them live culture yogurt daily

talked to clemson univ- today the lady i talked to said it sounded like a viral bug. nothing to woryy about. she suggested no antibiotics just vitamins .she told me they have been seeing alot of this stuff this season because of the wierd temps up and down here in south carolina.i need to just let it run its course through the flock.she said it hits the weakest first. lol the little rooster thats sick now is the biggest of that hatch.i guess i need the info on what vacines to give after this next bunch hatches off.i think this is where i went wrong . trying to raise my own and not giving the vacines.

I will be honest with you...most of mine have not had vaccines either, just my show birds. It is a chance you take. Now I will be vaccinating more this spring. I will show some of my chickens and they will need to be vaccinated so that they don't bring back anything.

This is what I will be vaccinating for; recomended by Dr. Peter Brown:
laryngotracheitis
coryza
mereks
and maybe even
pox and new castle

I need to read more on Pox and New Castle. I will probably give just the show chickens the pox and new castle...I don't know.

It would be interesting what others vaccinate for.

Hope you beat this bug!!!

good you got more info and that they knew it was going around because of the funny weather. how many do you have left?
