Coughing Rattling Roo

I have a rooster around 5 months old that sounds like a perculating coffee pot. If you stand near him you can hear a congested rattle, pretty sure it's coming from his throat. Just got chickens this summer and not much experience. Roo has had these symptoms for about 3 weeks. Any ideas of what's wrong or what I need to do?

Um, is there any discharge or bad smell coming from his mouth????

No there's not. He does hold his mouth open to breathe now.

I had the same problem over the summer when it was so hot. I started putting ACV in the waterer and that seem to help a lot. About 1 T. per 5 gal of water.

Your roo probably has a respritory infection. Can you get some TYLAN50 and 25 guage or smaller needle w/ syringe? He needs anitbiotics.
