these babies were hatched may 24th, making them ~33 days.
out of the 7, 4 are confirmed males, while 2 are confirmed females.
this one in particular is odd to me- she has had very quick feather development like another cockerel, is large and slender-bodied like the other cockerels, and is morphologically different from the 2 confirmed pullets.
we had a RIR in our last batch of chicks that grew fast and had pink on her comb before everyone else, but i suspect it’s because she’s a fast growing, single-combed breed. Oyster (the chick in question) is an easter egger mix.
while my other four cockerels spar daily, i’ve never seen her join in. but her large size and pink comb are worrying.
she’s too young to truly tell, but if you had to guess, what would you think?
