It depends on what you order for the meal maker: if you get all pullets, you'll have a pullet, if you get broilers, you'll get another unsexed broiler. The homestead helper is the one that's always a rooster.

Ive ordered pullets twice and both times got males. The other times were half pullets and half straight run.

Huh, well, that's odd. Maybe they just changed how they do the meal makers recently.

When I placed my order, they offered 2 free chicks. The Meal Maker is supposed to be female, and the Homestead Helper is a male.

I hope they don't mess that up, since I opted for both.

Yeah, I think getting an opal legbar as your free mystery chick isn't too uncommon because they have an excess every hatching (due to their excessive price of $70). I've seen other threads where people have reported receiving one as their mystery chick as well. So maybe you'll get lucky like I did!
