The 10 x 10 refers to their sleeping and laying quarters.

There are 25 ducks now (14 K. Campbells and 11 scovies)

This will be the laying pen for the Campbells principally and sleeping quarters for all.

Would Sebbies cause a problem?

All will have a 5000 sq. ft. pasture to roam in.

The 10 x 10 CAGE will be in a 18 x 28 Calf Nursery structure, btw.

Since you are already crowded (not overcrowded) I suspect the geese wold cause some problems. do your 'scovies' roost (some do, some don't) If they do that would free up same floor space for your other waterfowl at night.

That's alot of ducks to add sebbies to! I have 25 chickens, 3 ducks and 2 sebbies who share a 10x16 coop. Since the chickens roost at night the ducks/geese get the floor space.

I would suggest against adding sebbies into the same coop, just because of space. Sorry!

According to the great Holderread and other professional breeders of show waterfowl, a 10 x 10 could hold a MAX of 50 Campbells;

OR a MAX of 30 plus scovies;

in our 10 x 10 we have 14 Campbells, requiring 28 - 42 sq. ft.
and 11 scovies requiring a min of 27.5 to 33 sq. ft.

So at max there is 75 sq. ft. needed for such no. of birds.

We have 25 sq. ft. more than that.

So a Sebbie would need 12.5 sq. ft. of space for spending the night in??

BTW, I am not planning on overcrowding, just want to give more spec. info.

I hope you haven't deserted me!!

OK here's the update.

I have expanded the sleeping quarters to 10 x 16, up from 10 x 10.

I will be slaughtering one of the Campbell drakes (don't need three), bringing current duck pop. down to 24.

Could this work for a mere pair of Sebastopols???

i'm waitin to see what others say too......

for my $0.02 i'd say - can you build in a coop the coop for the geese?? that way they'd be sectioned off (and maybe to set a nest?? i think you said 2...). my fav building materials are hog panels (16 x 4). you can cut to size and just tie together (or use wire) and tack into the structure...or use your handy new fence post pounder for tposts

my geese and ducks were housed NEXT to each other during the coldest part of last winter. they didnt stand there and scream at each other so it worked out. i sectioned two coops within a shed. when the lady goose started to set her nest we had to separate them for everyone's peace of mind (my gander is a demon).

btw - stay tuned for pix of my new babies! our Miss Duck hatched 7 lovely muscovy babies yesterday - they are cute as bugs! nothing is cuter than a baby duck
:)

I don't have sebbies but I do have a pair of Africans that are residing with some of our ducks. I have 11 ducks and the 2 geese in a pen that is 15' x 15'. Now my geese are still young (13 weeks) and so are my ducks (oldest is 26 weeks & youngest is 15 weeks) in this pen but so far we have had no problems at all. I think you should go for it. You have the space. After the initial intergration spats, they'll settle down just fine.

I can't imagine 50 ducks in a 10' x 10' area!

To me that is MAJOR over crowded!
Even 25 ducks is a bit much but if its just at night thats not too bad....but then you have to consider winter time when they tend to be in more often.
10' x 10' would be fine for a pair of geese.
Just remember geese tend to boss chickens and ducks around. I don't know if it would work if they were all kept together at night.
Mine free range with ducks and chickens during the day and do not actively go after them but if they will sometimes drive them away if they get to close or from food if they all have access to it....but on the other hand they don't stand guard over the food because they're usually out grazing.
Mine (geese, ducks, chickens) are all kept separate at night or when nesting.
They all have different feed requirements anyway so they're fed separate too but some people aren't as picky as me and feed them all the same thing which is fine.

Soooo... when and what are you getting?!?
