I've assumed this six month old bird was a rooster, based on the big floppy comb and tail feathers. Admittedly, I have very little idea what I'm talking about though, I just assumed he was a he because he looked so different from the rest.
Well, I came home this afternoon to discover him in one of the nests. I know roosters sometimes hang around in the nest like that, but about ten minutes later I heard "the egg song", and lo and behold, there was a warm egg in the nest where he was sitting. Was he maybe just sitting on an egg and keeping it warm, and then celebrating? Or could he be a she?
