Could this rooster really be worth $200.00

It just kills me how people form opinions on things they know absolutely anything about except what gets spewed from the media. If you want to see some mistreated chickens, check out a battery hen farm, or a meat chicken farm!

A chicken is worth what someone will pay for it, if you think that's too high then the answer to the original question is no... That said dubbing is done to many breeds for reasons of health, to protect against frostbite, and to meet show standards for breeds like the Old English Game standard and bantam as well as the American Game which has it's own Standard of Perfection and shows since it is not an APA recognized breed. Why is it that some people are always so quick to jump to a negative conclusion? There are lots of reasons for a rooster to be dubbed, and if you really want to know why someone thinks their bird is worth $200 why don't you call and ask them?

I work with people in industry and ONLY poor growers and production owners are videotaped. When done properly, meat birds and battery hens are housed in conditions that are MUCH better than free-range and non-fenced birds.

Are you kidding me?! How is being cramped in a cage so small you can't move your whole life, and never seeing the sun better than free ranging? Meat birds only live 2 months, how is that better? Come on now...

How are battery conditions better? My freerange chickens have a large barn with roosts, soft dirt to bathe in, a yard to chase bugs in, fences and a dog to protect them from predators. I provide them with food and water and they live as they want to... if they wanted to leave me and live at the neighbors there is nothing stopping them but they are here day after day... if you locked them up like a battery hen for awhile and then opened the door and let them choose... they'd be outta there in a heartbeat.

Better than free range/pastured hens? NOT!!!! And NEVER.

dang they removed the post before I could see him but in my opinion no Rooster is worth 200.00. Except maybe big ole nugget...

instead of "running to" a "fighting cocks" rescue..educate yourself a little better. Hollaring about how he's mistreated and abused is the ignorance of it all. Most everyone here thinks you can give him a better home and change his ways..never! If you want to look at abuse look at the people that stress these chickens out by bathing, powdering, combing and coddling..geez!

I would never pay that much for a rooster, especially a fighting rooster. Sorry. Pecks toooooo much for me.
