Could this still be coccidiosis?

In case you haven't noticed, chickens, like toddlers, are very fond of eating things off the ground. Guess where they also poop. It's a small wonder they aren't all sick all the time. But in reality, they all have bacteria living in their intestines, both good kind and bad kind. It's when the bad kind reach higher populations than the good that they get sick. It's how it works with humans, as well.

As a rule, these intestinal infections aren't terribly contagious since most chickens' immune systems keep these baceria down to manageable numbers. When you see a chicken sick from this type of infection, it means their immune system is overwhelmed and they need help from an antibiotic.

Thank you! I just wasn’t sure if the intestinal bacterial infection caused by coccidiosis was contagious or not like some other types of bacterial infections, such as pullorum.
For right now I’m starting the chicks on corid again and I also gave the sick chick 2 drops of direct liquid corid (not sure if she needs more?). Hoping this will hold her over until Thursday when the sulfa meds come since she showed improvement with corid before declining again. I’m also giving her egg yolk as she’s not eating much right now.

Here’s Gracie 7hrs after giving her a direct dose of corid again as well as her drinking the corid water… she’s walking around and eating again as if she wasn’t completely listless half of yesterday until this afternoon. She’s still slower than the other 2 but now she’s eating with them and curious. Her crop is full as well. Still going to treat with the sulfa antibiotics when they come because I see intestinal shedding in the poop from the chicks a few times a day.

I see big improvements already!

Gracie’s poop went from very mucousy yesterday to being more dry and firm today. (Gave her another direct dose of corid about half an hour ago). She’s about the same as yesterday evening. Eating, drinking, pecking around a bit, but still a bit slower than the others. Definitely not listless and sleeping standing up like yesterday morning. I’m hoping the sulfa ships today because if it does then it should be here tomorrow because the Jedds supply store is in Anaheim, Ca which is only about 2 1/2 hrs away from me. :fl

Likely the Corid saved its life tbh.

I’m glad I followed my gut and gave her a direct dose of corid along with treating their water again. It’s crazy how 7 hrs after the first dose she’s eating again and then this morning her poop is becoming a bit more normal. This is definitely the worst case of coccidiosis I’ve ever dealt with… a year ago with my hens I only needed to do 5 days of treatment and they were good to go. Hopefully after a round of sulfa antibiotics Gracie be good to go as well.
