Countdown To Eggs! For June hatches 😊

I have some BCs that surprised me this year. They started laying between 7 and 8 months, but they were March babies, not June.

Yeah, I've had them come into lay at 7-8 months old, but those were early April babies, so same kind of situation. I have an 8-month-old now (hatched on Easter) who doesn't even look as close as Inara to laying, but of course her mother didn't go into lay until about 10 months of age, so I'm not holding my breath on her laying before the end of the month.

Another new layer today! She’s actually from my younger Hoover’s pullets. Hatch date July 5th (22 weeks old).

That’s 4 layers total now. All started this week in the new coop! They’ve almost laid full dozen.

I was happy to find this BCM in the nesting box. I love identifying each of my hens’ eggs. Knowing who gives what colors and who are my best layers (Flockstar app). Who else does this?

That dark egg is a BCM egg, but the chicken pictured is a Cochin, right?

My Buff Orpington (June 10th), laid her first egg today! It’s a pinkish-tan! So I get dark reddish from my Welsummer, baby blue from my Ameraucana, & now pinkish-tan! I can’t wait to see the other colors!

Nope, she’s a Black Copper Marans, sans copper. I can see why you’d say Cochin though. But it’s just the pic.

That’s why I asked. I honestly didn’t know if the 2 looked alike or not.

I have one of those, too! Actually, I think mine is more of a Birchen... but of course it's hard to confirm since she has no color in her neck besides black.

6 of my 12 June girls are laying now! They keep surprising me. I doubt they all lay before the end of the year, but it certainly would be cool.
