My brown leghorn recently started to lay, she was a late May hen. My second one to lay was a BCM.

Honestly, I had no real signs from her leading up to the egg song screaming today. She doesn't squat for me, she had only been in the nesting box two other times in the past month (I can tell from footprints in the dust), and she only sang the egg song one other day. I'm home all day so it's easy to hear. Today was just a freight train of egg song from her over the course of an hour and then, bloop, out popped an egg and that was that!
