Countdown to receiving new chicks on oct 9th week

My turkeys boss around the entire flock besides the geese. The geese get along with every single bird I have. My turkeys like to chase my roosters around. I'm always yelling at them to stop bothering the boys. My young turkey hens are the worst for harassing the roosters.
everybody gets along until it comes to food and then the turkeys get bossy, ugh they are brutal

Sleeping arrangements also get them fighting. they are like kids "stop touching me" " mom he's touching me tell him to stop touching me" Yea you can hear the rukus for a good 20 + mins out there. Yes it does seem as though me turkey hens are the worst at fighting, I guess it depends on if one of the roosters tried to buck up to them, that sets them off and the chase is on. But they work together amazingly well and look out for one another.

Don't you just love turkeys? I can't get enough of them. My 4 change their sleeping patterns every night. Sometimes they decide to sleep with the silkies, some nights on the very top of the barn roof. My tom is always on the roof. He likes to be the first to see me heading down to the barn in my SUV before work. He likes to chase me in the car. He JUST started strutting and has gobbled a few times :love

Tom is the least aggressive to the chickens. My two wild turkeys were bullied when they were young by the chickens, so now they are getting even. Revenge is sweet :p They never actually hurt them, but they do chase them down and jump kick them.

I do love the turkeys they are hillarious. I have 3 toms and 2 hens my toms have been gobbling a month or more and they are getting good at it. They gobble more and more frquently. I like it because they gobble consistantly at new people or if a car comes up the drive. So it is like a watch dog. I look out the window and see which way they are facing and find the reason. They scare the poor fed ex guy he wont come out of his vehicle lol I have to go out to him

What age are your turkeys? Mine were born very early in June. I really want my tom to strut/gobble 24/7 :gig I just love a strutting tom!

I think we've pretty much hijacked this thread

Lol yes we have!
My turkeys were born may 7th so yours are not too far off. They are like kids once they learn to do it, they practice and practice and practice until it is consistant. Mine dont strut all the time but a good 50% of the time. But they also have a rival flock next door. I raised the neighbor flock so they are allowed to mingle during the day and the 2 next door have no hen so mine are protecting their ladies

Here is my girl harrassing the roosters. :gig That's Betty there. She likes to do this more than any of the girls. She is also the most attached to me. God forbid the roosters approach me for treats

That is awesome. That is what my black spanish hen "Spirit" does to my too big for his pants EE bantam roo. It is so funny. The turkey attached most to me is my narragansett tom "Camo" he is so docile and laid back. all the chickens and turkeys were raised with me as momma and I spend 75% of my day with them. I dont work so this is what I do . when they see me they all run like mad to me. The neighbors flock does to and it kind of irratates her because they run FROM her and not to her lol. I am of course the crazy chicken lady.
OFF subject-- what is the tatt on your arm? Love tatts. My hubby says I need to get a chicken tatt.

I got my shipping confirmation this morning! So excited....I've got pine chips in the brooder with paper towels on top of that...the food is filled up, waiting for the water until I get the call. I'm planning to bring a blanket to wrap the box in....I'm so excited! Thank you all for sticking it out with me, shouldn't be much longer....

So I'm sure in twenty four hours its going to turn into a "what is this?" Thread lol I am soooo looking forward to the mystery lot, but who am I kidding? I'm not going to know any of them right away! ;)

I spend almost 100% of my free time with them after work. Unless the weather is bad. Weekends I'm out there at least 4 hours if not more. They all run to me, but the turkeys will fly to me. Every time I go back to the house they run as fast as they can and try to convince me to stay. They'll peer in at us through the windows. It's really special.

My tattoo is 3 stars. I got it when I was 16 and it really has no meaning other than I like stars :D
