Countdown to receiving new chicks on oct 9th week

My post office opens abit later than most being a tiny town so I got the call at 707am.. Hope you hear soon. My postmaster kept the box under 2 heat lamps I thought that was very nice.

A side note.. I had to drug myself enough to sleep the night before. It was the only way to get some rest before getting my babies

Aoxa,

Just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the picture of your farm, coops and lovely birds! Thanks for posting them, and good luck with your new arrivals!

Still no call...
Oh so stressful!

Good luck with your expected delivery and hope it all goes smoothly. I am only 11 weeks into raising my small flock, learning as I go, and enjoying the last 2 weeks since my girls, (and one suprise Roo), have been moved out to their permanent coop and run.

Let us know how it goes Sally, and post pics of the new babies, can't wait to see what you are going to get in that mystery delivery!

Where in NY are you? I am in Dutchess County!

Good Luck!

I've just moved my 1.5 week old babies to the barn in a pen. They were all fine and sleepy this morning. They were quickly outgrowing their play pen. I have 23 little chicks that age.

Another note: If you buy an incubator, get a small one. It's too tempting to fill up and hatch continuously. I have no self control!

I am done right now.. The silkies are broody, and that's all I'm prepared to hatch over the winter.

I barely slept, kind of used to that though since I have a four month old real baby lol. I got my four year old up and ready to school while holding the phone the entire time. I've been told by the post office that they try to call people right away to come get the so that they don't sit there long, they even open the doors when they are closed etc. sadly I was also told at the same time that a lot of the come dead . I know they left the hatchery and that the USPS site hasn't been updated, but I was told they should be here today when I ordered them as it usually is just one shipping day to my location (rockland county btw) .

I'm debating trying to get a small nap in this morning because I have a headache. Of course it's cold out and raining so that has me worried about my little peeps.
