Crack in viable egg

Do you mean the crack is extending further, or the gap is getting wider? Maybe the wax is seeping in? Can you get a pic?

If you are positive the chick is still moving, I'd stop adding wax. What day of incubation are they on?

I had 2 hens put 2 dents in an egg, and I taped it with medical paper tape. It happened 10 days ago, I'm hoping to see a pip when I get home today.

So, one of my cracked/taped eggs had internally pipped this morning, so i peeled back and cut off some of the tape, closest to where i thought it might interfere with zipping. Got home from work and it had hatched all by itself. Beautiful little splash bantam cochin.

I have had success in taping the crack with clear masking tape, using the least amount of tape needed
