Boy do I understand that feeling!!!! I have quilt pieces cut for a daughter Christmas quilt and my son's girlfriend's Christmas quilt, they will both be simple 9 patch blocks, have over 300 5x5 pieces cut for each...and I have stolen Jacie's Coop's idea of the handmade wooden blanket boxes and my husband is making those to put the quilts in at Christmas. I am trying to get him to commit to making a smaller one for my son to put his pocketknife collection in so then the major kid gifts are done...was easier when all they wanted was toys!!

Prissy, I am def. making the lye soap this year..this summer I think, it is on my agenda to upgrade from the melt and pour soap making this year!! I haven't even made that since before Christmas...12 more hands and 12 more hours in the day..yep that would help!

Make the boxes out of cedar. Moths will never eat those quilts.

Can you make me one? Seriously. What would it cost?

He would be very flattered that you asked but I'll be lucky to get him in gear enough to finish what I need him to make. He doens't have an actual workshop either, will have to use someone else's. You could spent about 80 bucks and likely get free shipping though buying one off line, I did a search for blanket boxes and scrolled an entire page of them with widely varying prices until I found one I thought he could copy and make and the kids would like. Race cars come before ANYTHING in this household!!

That t-shirt rug is great! Thanks for sharing! It's been AGES since I did any crochet... I don't know if I would even have a clue where to start, but I would love to make a rug like that! Actually I wanted to make a braided rug, but haven't gotten anywhere on that yet. lol

mmmmm biscotti I have not made that in ages!
if I do I will eat them all so better not

thanks you guys! motivates me to finish the thing! it is so freaking heavy!
it goes quickly you can make a throw rug in an afternoon

I tried to make a braided rug out of old jeans one time but when I put it togther it kept making a braided cone! I could not get the darn thing to be flat finally it became a dog rug and all that time and work ..but they are supposed to be easy if you know what you are doing!

if you can do a simple half double stitch or you could make the yarn thinner and do a double I bet that would look great! you are good to go it is one stitch back and forth nothing tricky!

I ran out of tshirts and just email friends when I need more ..seems everyone had a pile of thsirts someplace they just do not want to toss but are to shameful to donate!

in a rug who cares if they have stains holes or whatever you just work it in and call it "rustic"!

I have a pile of old sheets that were given to me that I planned to used for making a braided rug - thought those would be good to practice with! Hmmm... maybe I could use the sheets instead of T-shirts and try the crochet method? I seriously think the last time I crocheted anything I was like 9 years old! Guess it is time to try to brush up on those skills. I really could use a big rug for the living room, but buying a braided rug like I would like to is SO expensive. Thanks for the info DeLight.

Just finished the baby quilt top for the great great niece or nephew coming this fall. I have the batting for it but, still need to get the backing and binding.
