Cedar the Pastor's Robe will have a rope attached but it will be just for looks. He will be playing the part of "Jesus" and his robe is gonna look awesome (I hope) by the time I am done with it.

I love church plays. One year some of the ladies at church had to do a last minute rush job on a Jesus costume. The congregation was promised that every child old enough to walk that attended Sunday school would be in the Palm Sunday program. It was a very ambitious promise. The big day came and the church was packed with standing room only because every parent and grand parent wanted to see their little darlings on stage. Well, the toddlers revolted and were acting horrified and couldn't make it anywhere near the main area without major panic so they didn't come out to dance with palm leaves in the beginning. My son was a teenager at the time and often helped care for the toddlers in the nursery and they adored him. The Sunday school teachers grabbed DS, wrapped him in a sheet and put a rope belt on him. Luckily, he was wearing his leather sandals that day. They told the toddlers that DS was going to take them to front of the church "to play and dance." DS is quite tall and when he spreads his arms it's quite a wing span. At the end of the program everybody oohed and aahed as Jesus walked the children down the aisle with his arms extended as the children all looked up adoringly at him and then danced around him in the front of the church. Little did anybody know that it was a last minute fix to avert a crisis and his arms were only extended as they walked so that he could herd them to the front and prevent escapes.
