Crafters- What are you making???

Do you sand the gourds first? I had a bumper crop of birdhouse gourds this summer and never thought about rub ons. I have tons of them that are too big to fit on my eggs! You have just given me something else to do to keep me from cleaning my house!!

We let them dry, then Dh uses a razor blade to strip it down, then sands it, then washes in bleach/water solution. We had a gourd plant grow up this year and it produced us some more gourds to play with and we still have alot from last year

That's all I've gotten out of my garden this year. Bunches of gourds and a tomato. That is correct 1 lousy tomato! I've got a couple snake gourds that are a good 2 ft long!! From what I can see (they haven't all died back yet) I've got snake and bottle gourds. Was hoping some of the bushel gourd seeds would sprout.

Friend of mine uses a dremel to carve her gourds. She also uses leather dye(?) to add color to them without hiding the natural markings left by the mold and stuff on them from when they dry.

I am also adding some home made soap and some home made vanilla to some of my gifts going out. I am going to make up gift jars to give out. All of this on top of the stuff I am making and doing for all the swaps. lol. I am soo glad I found this site, it is so much fun meeting new peps and sending out stuff. Thanks BYC and all who participate.

I just want to say how much I like all of your ideas and how jealous I am! I did manage to make a few Christmas ornaments from my eggs last year, but am probably the most UNcrafty person you'll ever meet...sigh.
