I like that topic of $600.00 or less for Christmas..maybe we sshould post some lists to show what we are actually making and giving and how we can do that economically. It does seem silly to break the bank spending at Christmas...soooo, how economical are the gifts you are giving? I have been buying my glycerin for my soap for months at Michaels when I get the 40% off coupons so I am trying to save on the soap making, stocking it up in the garage for nearer Christmas to get all the gift soaps made. The records I bought at goodwill for cheap, the molds were reasonable..the music ones, quite happy with those, they are clear plastic, a bit flexible, not my favorite "kind" of mold, love the silicone so have to be careful to cool my soap alot first before pouring into these or they will melt..learned tthat the hard way!! Have already bought my fragrances and color. Trying to buy "Santa" a bit at a time now so I can have that done too...husband and kids do not want soap, lol!!!

Your right you should not have to break the bank at Christmas so now that my kids are grown (except the 16 YO boy) we get together at Thanksgiving and draw names for the Adults and Kids. We spend $25. on our name. We all buy something again for the kids if we didn't get their name as they should have a gift from everyone.

I always get a gift for all my kids, this year I found 12 x 12 binders that have a flap that seals them completely, they were orginally $30 each and I got them for $2.50 each. I am going thru my family pics and doing scrap books for all my kids that way they have the pics they should have if something happens to me. I will scrap what I can and every year add to these album till all the pics are given to who they belong. I even got enough of them for my Grandkids and any future Grandkids. The nicest feature is the carrying handle. Did I mention these are leather and about 4 inchs wide so they will hold a lot of pages.

I am doing blue jean quilts as well for the 3 boys and and for the 4 girls 2 kings size bow tie quilts (done just need binding and quilting) and 2 Fan quilts (just need to attach fan and then sew top together and quilt and bind)

I will also be doing the record album bowls and the chicken wire baskets. I will be teaching these baskets and bowls to the senior's for their fundraisers. Thanks so much for all the great ideas. Please keep them coming.

Before I can do any more for Christmas I really need to make my Grandkids Halloween costumes. This year my Granddaughter (3 1/2) will be Cinderella and my Grandson (1 1/2) will be the mouse Gus Gus from Cinderella. I have to improvise for Gus Gus as there is no Gus Gus pattern out there. These well have to be done by this Sunday as I have surgery for my right shoulder on Mon the 22nd. Then 2 months later they are doing my right knee. So once they do the knee I will have lots of time to scrap and quilt LOL.

Thanks again for sharing

Might want to try cutting back on the dog treats. Just a thought

OMG!! Leo is the baby!! I don't really spent that much on him, but he does have as many packages to open as the kids. He really opens them too. I wrap his things in those little gift bags that look like lunch sacks made out of Christmas paper. He sticks his head in the bag and pulls the toys out. One year I made the mistake of wrapping a gift for my son in a bag that looked like Leo's packages. It was a stuffed snowman holding a gift card. Poor Leo was certain that my son had opened one of his gifts, and he spent the entire morning trying to steal the snowman. He (Leo, not my son) got very emotional about it and even got into a tug of war over it. We finally removed the giftcard and gave him the snowman. Everybody says my dog is spoiled, but I know him for the little darling he is.

Oh I understand my grandpups and my pup are the same way. They even get birthday parties. My grandpup who will be 7 this coming week has a birthday bash to end all bashes. In fact for his 1st Bday my 3 sisters went in and bought him a really harley davidson leather jacket. Then every year they get matching clothes for it. Too funny yesterday he was wearing his macho mutt shirt. He is an aso/yorkie mix and he is grandma's baby LOL. He has to spend the night at least once a week or his Mom pays for it LOL.

I new you meant $5.00 but I had to tease you. LOL
