What, you didn't have to crawl out the pop door.

I did. I locked myself in my brooder house. Mind you there are 2 not 1 but 2 doors. The one I used and the large door as wide as the building that opens up to clean it out. It has a small pop door inside of it for Smallllll Chicks, the big door was nailed shut. The normal door was set up with an inside latch for me to use so I could close the door from the inside, so the little ones couldn't get out on me. It broke with me inside. I had my cell phone, I called my husband in the house. He ignored the phone, cause he thought I would get it. After about 45 minutes he finally realized I was not answering the phone calls and the message machine was beeping like crazy and where was I. He finally recued me.

So when he built the Duck house he made the latch a swinging one from outside and inside. But now and again it sticks and I can't get it to move. You guessed it. I got stuck inside the Duck house. That time he was still sleeping and I had no Phone with me. You'd think I'd learn. Fortunately their Pop door is large enough for me to crawl through. So far so good in my hen house, maybe I should have him widen that pop door, I don't think I can go through it.

Got locked in the Hen house several times when I was a Kid, too. Sometimes, life repeats itself.

Note to self:
Enlarge pop hole.

Nah. I'll never need it. I use a hasp meant to be used with a padlock. I just use a carabiner instead. The only way I get locked in is when one of the kids thinks it's amusing...... Being on the receiving end of mom's stinkeye soon convinces them it's not.

honestly; I once accidently locked myself out of the house with no clothes on . . . (long story). I was home alone, and running from bush to bush trying to find a window that wasn't locked . . . It was HORRIBLE but really funny too!

Two weeks ago I got a call from my DH. I said "hello"? He says "hello". I said aren't you in the backyard? He said "yes". I said "why are you calling me from the backyard"? He said "because I locked myself in the coop"!
I don't know how he managed it since our's has to be lifted up and slid into place but I guess he shut it so hard that it shook and vibrated just enough...
He'll be tickled to know he's not the only one!

I'm loving these posts because our stupid contractor is finally going to start the new coop this weekend.

Anyone notice you get great cell reception in the chicken coop? Best reception on our property, go figure!
