She lives on in her kids.
I still have the grandmother and grandfather to the one I lost and the one he has. I also have one thats not frizzled but is colored the same. She's broody right now. I could always just put the "grands" back together and get all chicks like that but right now I have a paint silkie roo in the sizzle pen trying to get more paints. Alhough I don't hatch many eggs but I do the different color mixtures for my customers. It's like Christmas waiting to see how they turn out. Just a slow Christmas. lol

I saw many of my birds offspring at the show. Actually all the silkies and sizzles there where from my birds. It makes me feel proud to see my stock at a show and winning ribbons. They all won ribbons.

I concidered entering Elvis or Pricilla but I was soooo tired of bathing chickens I just didn't want to have to bathe another. Elvis is the black sizzle hen and Priciilla is the paint sizzle hen

I take it Elvis was named before you knew her gender

That and the way her feathers are on her head. She reminded me of Elvis. I have another hen with a boy name, George. I thought she was a boy till she laid an egg. Imagine my surprise. She's the house chicken now. She was the "runt" of the litter. It took her so long to grow up to even be put outside in a pen. When she did get big enough she was always the one at the bottom of the pile, always the one that free ranged alone. Then one day I found her with her head in the corner of the pen and others just pecking away at her head. Thats when she became the house chicken. The others didn't want her in their pen because she wasn't normal like they where I suppose. She's blind on one side and that side is also caved in like she has no sinus cavity. When I do take her out to free range and there are other chickens out doing the same she stays away and when she sees one or any coming in her direction she hides or runs to me. There is only 1 roo that shows her any attention and when he spots her he makes a run for it hoping I don't intercept before he can breed her. When she sees him coming she yells and runs for me. It's like "Help me, Help me".

Anyway, enough chatter. We all have eggs to sell. I know I do. I've got a chicken i'm trying to buy and there is the feed bill too. So lets get back to the auction.

Just wanting to say I received some eggs from this BYCer a couple days ago, and they were packed extremely well. All the eggs look very good when candled.

Quote: We ended up with a Mallard drake named "Mallory"...LOL And my poor little (NOT) Saxony drake's name was "Annie" for 2 months until his quack grew in. Now he's "Andy."

Hafta say...I snag Marie's eggs every chance I get & have some of my best hatch rates & cutest chicks from her eggs
