At the show today the admin of a local poultry club I belong to brought 2 of his sizzles that he hatched from eggs he got from me. One of them looked identical to one I lost to the heat this summer. It was as if she came back to life.Awwwwww...I hate losing birds![]()
That probably was nice.At the show today the admin of a local poultry club I belong to brought 2 of his sizzles that he hatched from eggs he got from me. One of them looked identical to one I lost to the heat this summer. It was as if she came back to life.
I still have the grandmother and grandfather to the one I lost and the one he has. I also have one thats not frizzled but is colored the same. She's broody right now. I could always just put the "grands" back together and get all chicks like that but right now I have a paint silkie roo in the sizzle pen trying to get more paints. Alhough I don't hatch many eggs but I do the different color mixtures for my customers. It's like Christmas waiting to see how they turn out. Just a slow Christmas. lolThat probably was nice. She lives on in her kids.![]()

That and the way her feathers are on her head. She reminded me of Elvis. I have another hen with a boy name, George. I thought she was a boy till she laid an egg. Imagine my surprise. She's the house chicken now. She was the "runt" of the litter. It took her so long to grow up to even be put outside in a pen. When she did get big enough she was always the one at the bottom of the pile, always the one that free ranged alone. Then one day I found her with her head in the corner of the pen and others just pecking away at her head. Thats when she became the house chicken. The others didn't want her in their pen because she wasn't normal like they where I suppose. She's blind on one side and that side is also caved in like she has no sinus cavity. When I do take her out to free range and there are other chickens out doing the same she stays away and when she sees one or any coming in her direction she hides or runs to me. There is only 1 roo that shows her any attention and when he spots her he makes a run for it hoping I don't intercept before he can breed her. When she sees him coming she yells and runs for me. It's like "Help me, Help me".I take it Elvis was named before you knew her gender![]()
