I love them both! I really need some boots like that.. Where did you get those?

This thread makes me feel SOOOO much better. When I call my parents now, my Dad answers the phone Hey Chicken Lady!! I figure it's only a matter of time before it becomes Crazy Chicken Lady....I am sure my hubby already thinks so...
I have been wanting some chickens since the end of last year...when I started getting eggs from my friend...well I started reading up on them. April I bought 12... then got 5 more a week later....then a cpl more here and there....I had 25. Before I bought those I ordered 25 from a hatchery, but they wouldn't be shipped until middle of May. SO they came and got 2 extra... so became 52.

Right around the time that those were coming, I sweet talked my hubby into letting me get an incubator... just wanted to see if I could hatch some, I told him. So had 12 eggs in the bator.....ended up with 7 out of that hatch.

SO I think that's 59.... but I am not counting....now I have 25 more in the bator.....but they are just eggs.

The sad part is, I know just how many I have of every kind I have....they do not have names........YET .... but if I end up with too many roosters, some might end up in the freezer, so I don't want to get super attached to all of em...but there a few that have quite a personality that will stay right where they are, even if they are not good egg producers...now they might get a name

I love them!!! They are hilarious!!! It's better than comedy on TV.

Absolutely Love that purse I'll definately post if I try to make one myself. Although I didn't get the chance to be called the Crazy Chicken Lady, everyone even the people at the feed store call me Ellie Mae (off of Ellie Mae Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies) I even have the curly blonde hair to match.

My mom started it when I was little cuz I always wanted to bring home some animal or another all the time. Well now it's extended to chickens I started out saying I'd get the 12 from the feed store and 1 roo now we're up to four 3 month olds, four 2 month olds, 12 hatched on May 24th and one slightly younger roo for a total of 21.

I'm not addicted...yet.

Hello Crazy Chicken Ladies! Can you help me with good replies for "OMG if you had chickens nextdoor to me I would hate it" sorts of commentary? Or other snobbishness?

In my Crazy Chicken Lady world, the fixer-upper only got fixed up AFTER the chickens moved in! Couldn't let the chickens suffer a messy yard.... keeping up to City Code for their shed/coop resulted in new fence, porch swing, interior floors, bathroom....... that City Code Book can lead to big ideas............. but still, Some People have Certain Ideas that chickens, in their minds, are filthy hillbilly fare.

Have you had any good responses for nay-sayers?

Seriously? Pasteurization of eggs is something she can do herself. It's called "cooking" them. I guess she prefers her eggs to have added hormones, antibiotics, etc.... Lololol
