Crazy story. What breed/gender has wandered into my life???????

Im leaning towards ROO, but if/when you can get a good standing up picture that would make it easier.

My concern is the laying down and its foot. Obviously been attacked by something. Is that bumblefoot on the toe to the right of the one missing the tip?

I'd start this guy/gal out on some vitamin/electrolyte water asap.

^^^ I agree

I he's not walkin around and investigating things there is definitely something wrong. A healthy chicken would have jumped those little gate walls and investigated your garage by now.

Make sure you wash your hands after handling him so your girls don't catch anything if he's ill.

Nope, those don't look any different than the back feathers on most of my large breed hens. They're not pointed enough or long enough to call a "saddle;" and the bird looks about 5 - 6 mos. to me. By that age a roo should definitely have a well defined set of glossy, pointed hackle feathers and, in NHs, the front of the comb should be much more rounded forward and prominent.

In the tail picture before the foot pictures, you can see the start of pointy orange saddle feathers coming in. The fact that those feathers look a different color is another clue to it being a male.

Poor guy - get well soon little NH cockeral!

Defo a male you have got there, looks like he has had a rough start in life poor boy
