Crazy weird feather loss!

My chickens are losing feathers straight down their chest, and it isn't molting. They seem great otherwise, and I don't see any lice eggs. Maybe mites? They are only losing feathers on the spot they lay down on, so maybe the feathers are just getting worn out? I can't find any information on Google, so I really need some advice. I just put fresh shavings in their coop today, so maybe that will help. They've only been doing this for a week and a half, but the condition is worsening. Has anyone had this happen to their chickens?

Just to be clear, they are losing feathers wherever they go.

How old are your birds?
How many birds do you have?
How large is your coop?
What do you feed them?
Can you post some pictures of them and the coop / run?
What does their skin look like?

They are ten months old, I have five of them, and their skin looks like it's in great shape. They spend the whole day outside of their coop -it's on the small side, and I will post some pictures.

They eat agrimaster 18% protein layer pellets and their coop is about ten square feet. Sorry, the pictures aren't terrific, it's snowing outside. If I get a chance I'll get more pictures later.

So by 10 feet square do you mean 10'x10' which is actually 100 sq ft?
I'm still not seeing or reading much to be concerned about.
Your coop can comfortably hold 25 to 30 birds depending on flock dynamics. You are feeding a good % protein. I'll assume you don't go nuts with unnecessary treats.
Why do you think they aren't molting? Three of mine are just finishing up partial molts and they are 9.5 months old.

I also do not see any area of concern.....your birds look healthy.
